This treatment is for women in their 2nd and 3rd trimester and has many benefits not only to relieve aches and pains but to help mamas-to-be, to be calm, relaxed and more confident before giving birth. (From a peer-reviewed study believe it or not!).

Pressure doesn't have to be light, you can have a good deep-tissue Sports Massage or remedial work if you would like that.

Regarding Lymphatic Drainage, any pregnancy related edema should be brought to the attention of your midwife before booking in with me.

So excited to announce that I will now be offering Massage and Lymphatic Drainage to all the Mamas-to-be.

Massage can be Sports, Remedial or relaxing..or a bit of all three. Just let me know what your body needs when you arrive.

Lymphatic drainage will also be offered, however any pregnancy-related edima should be brought to the attention of your midwife or doc before you book in with me.

Why I don't offer 'one area' sessions for Lymphatic Drainage. For example, stomach or legs only.

The Lymphatic system is one whole network, so if we have blockages or stagnation in one area, that excess fluid needs to be able to move through the system to get back to the terminus and either leave the body or go back into the blood stream.

The best way to describe it is if you're at a standstill on a sliproad coming onto the A1 (which happens often!), you're not getting off that slip road until the traffic further down the A1 is moving freely.

Lymphatic drainage sessions can be targeted but only after a few consecutive treatments when the clients Lymphatic system is presenting with effective results from full body sessions. One you understand the anatomy of the Lymphatic system, it's easier to understand that going straight to one area in the first session is not going to be effective.

The caveat to this however....is the face. And the results present much quicker than than any other part of the body I have seen. I think this is because the Lymph drains downwards, having gravity on its side at all times.

Finally got our boat back in the water!! I have reduced my hours this week but still have Friday afternoon available for Sports/Remedial massage and Lymphatic Drainage.

As always, I leave it to my clients to take the lead on conversations in treatments incase you just want to switch off. No one has to listen to me talk about boats for a hour unless you really want me to 😂.

Why Remedial Massage creates the foundations of your recovery.

In many cases, pain or dysfunction can be massaged out in a small number of sessions. However, more complex cases will require a physiotherapy journey to get you back to where you need to be.

This is why massage and physiotherapy can work really well together.

Massage doesn't rebuild muscle on its own, but it can help create a better environment for recovery by reducing muscle tension, improving circulation, supporting lymphatic flow, and helping the body move more freely.

When a muscle is less guarded and movement is easier, physiotherapy exercises can often be performed with better quality and control. Over time, this can help people rebuild strength, restore function, and get back to doing the things they enjoy.

I often explain it to clients like this: massage helps prepare the tissue, while exercise provides the stimulus for change. Both have an important role to play in recovery.
