Most people understand the throat as the place where words form. What anatomy has always known, and what neuroscience has now confirmed, is that the throat is something far more significant. The vagus nerve, the primary highway of the parasympathetic nervous system, runs directly through the larynx. Through the very structures that produce vocal sound. Which means every time you speak what is true, every time you hum in the car or sing alone in a room or say the difficult thing that has been sitting in your chest for days, you are not simply expressing yourself. You are directly stimulating the nerve that governs your body's entire capacity to feel safe.
