NHS ConfedExpo 2026 wrapped up yesterday - and what a great couple of days it’s was.

It was great to see such strong representation from Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria across the event - from colleagues taking to the stage, to connecting with partners, innovators and system leaders from across the country.

There was clear focus on the role of digital, technology and AI in driving transformation, alongside the importance of collaboration, inclusion and delivering innovation at pace.

We were also proud to see innovators we’re supporting through programmes such as WorkWell - including Sword Health, XRT and Tellmi, sharing their work and contributing to important conversations about the future of health and care innovation.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to speak with us, and to our team for representing HI NENC so brilliantly.

The North East and North Cumbria faces some of the lowest healthy life expectancy rates in England, making community-led action more important than ever.

This event will support community health champions to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and share key health messages within their communities.

We’re proud to have supported the development of the new Ovacheck service in Gateshead, helping women access earlier detection for ovarian cancer through a simple self-referral pathway.

At HI NENC, we provided evaluation advice and guidance to help maximise the initiative's impact and support innovation in early diagnosis.

Working alongside Northern Cancer Alliance and Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, this service could help improve outcomes for women across the region through faster access to care.
