Finding my voice doesn't always come easy.

For much of my life, being silent felt like the safe option.
But here I am as a women, also a mother, I want something different for myself and my children.
I won't be silenced!
Not everyone will agree with what I share, and that's okay.
If my content isn't for you, there are plenty of other people to follow. If something I share triggers you, that's yours to explore, not mine to carry.

For those who have found comfort, support, or inspiration in me sharing my journey, thank you.

And the truth is, there's still plenty I have to say.
I've spent too much of my life staying quiet to make others comfortable.
Not anymore.

Ancient Veil Dancing 1pm Saturday.

Sometimes words just don't come easy, sometimes movement may be the practice we need.
I love that we can explore our own journeys without needing to explain them, simply listening to ourselves through music, movement and intuition.

So I had a few tears tonight whilst my son stroked my arm as he had asked to snuggle him to sleep. I let me be held by a male, yes my son but one of the only good men that have been a major role in my life in his 4 year old little body. More than I can say for my own dad in a long long time.
I thought about him today, not on fathers day, as I wanted the day to be for my own kids father who shows up for them everyday.
Once upon a time I thought my own dad would fight for me, I used to think as a child that no matter what happens atleast I know he loves me.
Family breakdowns, mental and physical health, tragic loss of loved ones, along with a whole load of challanges in life, that feeling slipped away, a distant young childhood memory.
I still every day miss having what I imagine as a role model father figure. I see them all around for some people, I know not all and I get the privilage of watching my partner parent our own precious kids.
I would always say when I was a youth worker that fathers day was a very confusing time for a large amount of kids. It can be just as challanging as family's getting through their first Xmas when a love one has passed that year.
It's tough sometimes when life doesn't always turn out how we wished.
Maybe my dad gets upset on fathers day, maybe he doesn't even recognise the date but I've felt into it tonight and have let it pass once again. You can't let these things eat you up but it also deserves it's time to be acknowledged.
