Looking at my baby photo got me thinking…

At what point do we learn to put everyone else before ourselves?

As babies we don’t feel guilty asserting our needs. Be it hunger, tiredness, comfort or whatever else. It was how we survived and thrived.

Then somewhere along the way so many of us seem to learn that being a good person and the way of the world means putting ourselves last. Maybe its a different form of survival but it doesn't lead us to thriving.

And eventually it catches up with us.

At some point we have to realise maybe after health issues, break down after break down or some sort of realisation that our needs matter as well.

Maybe I seen patterns and cycles happening in my daughter and realised how could I expect her to love herself when I was her example.

So if you can relate or fall back into your past patterns ask yourself every day

What do I need?

And if your good a looking after yourself, good!

I think that is why I keep coming back to creating spaces where we can just slow down a little and reconnect with ourselves.
It reminds me to do the work myself and try to retain that whilst sharing that message. So by openning and holding space for others that could help support myself and others achieve what is needed for themselves in that moment if what I can offer.

Just to remember that we are part of it too.

And how can I not take care of this innocent child? She is still inside me, who deserves all the same love I give my own children and others.

Everyone deserves to feel loved from within even if it doesnt come so naturally anymore.

9 DAYS TO GO!
LAST DAY to get £10 off your retreat ticket!

One of the things I love most about our Back to Basics Retreat is the incredible place we’re gathering in.

Carrshield Village Hall sits in the beautiful West Allen Valley, within the North Pennines UNESCO Global Geopark, surrounded by moorland, streams, waterfalls and a landscape full of history.

The area has a rich lead-mining past, and beneath our feet is an even older story. The rocks here were formed during the Carboniferous Period, around 250 million years ago, when this part of Britain was covered by warm tropical seas.
You can still find ancient sea fossils in the limestone, including shells, corals and other traces of marine life.

There are also minerals linked to the old mining landscape, including galena, quartz, calcite and fluorite, so there is plenty to keep curious eyes busy along the way. ✨

As part of our retreat we’ll take a Medicine Walk, slowing down and noticing what draws our attention in nature.

It feels like the perfect place to come Back to Basics • Back to Nature • Back to Self.
