2 Years of InkedbyLozza! I can’t believe this month officially marks 2 years of the best job ever. Forever grateful and thankful to everyone who continues to support me and my business, whether that’s booking for tattoos or liking and sharing my work on socials!
Heres a few things I’ve learnt so far!
1. You’re probably gonna be s**t when you first start out. That’s why you practice, draw daily (even if it’s just a doodle), learn from the people around you. It’s why you tattoo fake skin and yourself before going near anyone else. Practice makes progress.
2. It’s ok to say no. Being able to say no to clients and other artists is so important. Whether it’s an idea that just needs tweaking in the right direction, or saying no to a design, style or placement because you’re not ready for it. Say no, it’s all good.
3. Hygiene is everything. Wrap your bed. Wrap your equipment. Don’t be rank.
4. You’re not going to be the right artist for every client. Whether it’s down to tattoo style, location, or even personality clashes, sometimes you just won’t be the right person for the job. It is what it is.
5. Every tattoo is important. Yes, even the small ones and the simple ones. Someone has to wear what you tattoo everyday for the rest of their life, you should care about what you’re permanently putting to skin.
6. Not one day is the same as the next. You’re always meeting someone new. Always hearing new stories. Maybe you’ll start using a new technique, or do a style you haven’t tried before. Who knows?
7. Your client should be the most important person in the room. Self explanatory, but this person is trusting you with their body. Yes it is that deep. Treat people well.
8. I’ve still got lots to learn. I’m still a baby in the tattoo world and I know there’s so much I haven’t learnt yet or know how to do. That’s ok, I will one day.
