Yesterday I was a guest speaker at a WI Group sharing the joys of reflexology.

I shared the history, there’s an encryption in a tomb of a physicist showing reflexology being given to someone’s feet (and hands) hundreds of years ago…yes, it’s that old.

Did you know you can have reflexology on your hands, feet, face and ears!

The benefits

Improved sense of wellbeing

Better sleep

Alleviates pain and tension

Stimulates the blood circulation

Supporting you if you suffer with stress, anxiety or depression.

Deeply relaxing

One of the attendees was a client of mine and she commented after saying it’s absolutely worth it purely for the relaxation.

Are you feeling any of the above, need to sleep better, or simply relax?

Book in and feel the worries, woes and tension melt away.

The eye catching title on the front cover of this addition prompted a new post.

When a client first visits its really important to understand the person, their needs, their issues and the environment around them with work, relationships, stressors etc.,

You may wonder why, it’s only reflexology or reiki or a holistic facial.

Well when we (as therapists) truly understand what is going on in life our treatments are tweaked, they become more bespoke and less generic.

For example menopause may the reason for the appointment, one of the core problems may be headaches for example..

Stress may be a factor, lifestyle another, insomnia, it could be an ongoing list affecting you mentally, physically, emotionally and socially so by finding out as much information as possible, and treating the client as a - whole - rather than symptoms I can offer my best service to them.

If you visit, don’t hold back, share in my safe space, then relax into your treatment and enjoy.

What would you choose?

It’s Monday again … where did that weekend go?
Before the week ahead gathers pace, here’s a little reminder..

You don’t have to wait until you’re exhausted to look after yourself.

If your head is already foggy, your stomach is in a whirl, your mood is on the floor, reflexology can help, it’s a beautiful way to slow down, reset and bring a little more balance into your week.

So, how is your week looking? Do you need some balance ?

Is your mind constantly busy, even when your body is asking you to slow down?
Perhaps it’s time to pause, breathe and simply be… Reiki could be your little moment of calm. 🤍

It’s feeling well and truly like Autumn today, I even had the heater on briefly to take the chill out of the air in my room when I first arrived this morning.

The heated under blanket is in situ, the cotton sarongs have been put away until 2027 😁 and the fleecy blankets are waiting for you now.

This week has been a funny one, cancellations each day 🙈 not great for a small business but my Pause & Pamper was as successful as last month and a new client today so the week ended very positively.

With it being Autumn Equinox this week I collected gifts from nature to decorate my table for Wednesday… did you know Conkers are revered as lucky? They used to be kept in pockets to ward off illness, used in homes to deter spiders, I need to try this - I spotted an unwelcome guest in my bed on Sunday, it wasn’t so lucky after a bit of quilt wafting, squeaking and squealing until I caught it 🙈 and they’re thought of historically as a sign of courage, resilience and good fortune.

So if you find one this weekend, pop one in your pocket and have a wonderful weekend 💜💚

September – A Season of ChangeAs summer begins to fade and the gentle glow of autumn starts to shine, September brings with it a sense of change. A new term, new schools, fresh beginnings. As a busy mum (I’m a Yorkshire lass) or Mam it’s non stop…

No time for yourself, always someone calling mum, mam or your name, someone needing the loo, food, drink, have you seen? Do you know…or 101 other things.

But you get to my age and you miss those days, hence the shoes lined up. I used to love seeing 4 pairs of shoes representing my little gang, it was hectic and in those years I didn’t book in for a massage or reflexology or my nails done (no need for violins 😂) it just wasn’t the thing, the hairdressers was my time, luxury and peace. I was in my 40’s before I had reflexology and look how that changed my life (I used to work with children you know).

So, when I see young mums now coming for reflexology internally I give a little ‘high five,’ I am their cheerleader because they have the balance just right! I saw a mum when her twins were 3 weeks old …wth …amazing!
I see a mum with her own business and two little ones…YAY!
Another with teenagers needing taxis yet she squeezes in 60 minutes a month.
Do you need 60 minutes? Get in touch I may even give you a high five 🥰 or maybe I’ll just keep it to myself 😁

Mums deserve a break too

A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis has examined the effects of foot reflexology on breastfeeding outcomes and postpartum comfort.

The analysis brought together findings from 3 experimental studies involving 260 postpartum women, including two randomized controlled trials and one quasi-experimental study.

What did the researchers find?

Overall, women who received foot reflexology showed better breastfeeding outcomes and greater postpartum comfort.

The analysis found significant improvements in:

✓ Breastfeeding success
✓ Breastfeeding satisfaction
✓ Postpartum comfort

The researchers also found reductions in breast pain, tension and heat associated with the onset of breastfeeding.

In simple terms, when the results of the studies were considered together, foot reflexology was associated with greater comfort after birth and more positive breastfeeding outcomes.

The authors concluded that foot reflexology had positive effects on postpartum comfort and breastfeeding outcomes and suggested it may have a role as a supportive complementary approach during postpartum care.

For the reflexology profession, this is encouraging research. Postpartum care is an area where women may benefit from gentle, non-invasive complementary support alongside appropriate maternity and breastfeeding care.

It is important to remember that a meta-analysis is only as strong as the studies it includes. In this case, only three studies were included, so further high-quality, larger-scale research is needed to strengthen the evidence.

Research such as this continues to contribute to the developing evidence base for reflexology and its potential place within complementary and supportive healthcare.

As always, reflexology is a complementary therapy and does not replace appropriate postnatal medical care or professional breastfeeding support.

And back to work tomorrow!

I used to love having long nails as a teenager, and would paint each nail bar one a different colour, with one being left with no colour at all. This was the nail that would casually rest on the school desk so teachers could see I adhered (not) to the rules. Those were the days 😂

Anyway nowadays it’s short and neat…nobody wants to be scratched during their facial or reflexology do they? And actually when my nails peep over my fingertips I find it really uncomfortable, so short and neat it is.

See you soon if you’re booked in, if you’re not and like the idea of some time to yourself get in touch 😁

There’s a few adminy things I need to do tomorrow so if you’ve been in touch whilst I’ve been away you’ll hear from me very soon. Now I’m off to the cinema for a last night of the hols treat, do you do something on your last night of your hols?
