Not nourishing your body properly has serious consequences and the whole trend of $kinnyT0k is so dangerous to women’s health that we should not ignore it.

So let’s remember:

The consequences of not eating enough food for a prolonged period can range from everyday inconveniences, such as headaches and fatigue, to serious health complications. In women, prolonged undernutrition can disrupt hormonal health and, in severe cases, lead to irreversible conditions such as infertility and reduced bone density. In the most extreme cases, it can even be life-threatening. In a world where the skinny trend is often celebrated, we want to shout from the rooftops just how dangerous it can be.

If there’s one thing I know I need to work on, and that I believe many other women do too, it’s accepting that uncomfortable and painful experiences do not have to be part of womanhood.

While interviewing some of the best health experts in our region, several of them mentioned that women can sometimes accept a “new normal”, whether that’s difficult menopause symptoms, very heavy periods, or other health issues that affect their wellbeing.

I want all of you to know that there are often treatment options available that can help you enjoy a better quality of life. It starts with asking questions, understanding your options, and advocating for yourself and the choices that are right for you.

It was great to meet with my constituent Barbora Gray, founder of She Thrives NE to discuss women’s health, fertility and the importance of tackling misinformation online.
Barbora has turned her own experiences into a positive platform supporting women across the North East with evidence-based information on fertility, menopause, mental wellbeing and more.

Important conversations like these are vital as we continue pushing for better women’s healthcare and stronger support for women at every stage of life.

Like if you could love her any more ❤️

Miriam Margolyes once again reminds us that a leaking bladder is very common (just like farting!), and if you want to prevent being “pissy,” introducing pelvic floor exercises early on is the way to go!

What a brilliant conversation, what a brilliant woman, and what a brilliant message!

Is there one ‘pill’ that can sort out all of our problems?! Not really but moving your body comes pretty close 😍 I hope this conversation with Dr Jess Harris will inspire you to go for a walk or do a bit of gardening today because it might just be the best thing you can do for your long-term health.

Welcome PMOS! 💛

Here at She Thrives NE, PCOS was one of the diagnoses that helped inspire this project in the first place. As a founder, I often felt the information around the condition was confusing and oversimplified. I was one of those people who didn’t actually have ovarian cysts when I was diagnosed -> instead, I had a breast cyst. Now I have both… 😅

At the time, I felt there was very little clear guidance on how to truly manage the condition beyond simply receiving the diagnosis.

I really hope this name change represents more than just new terminology. I hope it marks a wider shift in how healthcare systems globally understand and approach this condition, recognising its complexity, investing more into research, and focusing on identifying the root causes rather than only managing symptoms.

My hope is that one day, diagnoses like PCOS, now PMOS will no longer feel so debilitating or isolating for the people living with them. 💛
