You don’t have to be sporty to have a sports massage.

Despite the name, sports massage isn’t just for runners, gym-goers or people training for an event.

It can be just as useful if you spend long hours at a desk, have a physical job, feel generally tight and achy, or simply want some hands-on treatment to help your body feel better.

You don’t need to be injured, and you definitely don’t need to be an athlete.

Sometimes you’re just a normal person with normal aches and pains - and that’s more than enough reason to book.

Is clicking in my joints bad? 👀

Not necessarily.

Joints can click, pop or crack for lots of completely harmless reasons - including gas bubbles moving within the joint or tendons and ligaments moving over nearby structures.

If a joint clicks without pain, swelling or loss of movement, it’s often nothing to worry about.

It’s more worth getting checked if the clicking is:
* painful
* associated with swelling
* happening after an injury
* making the joint feel unstable, stuck or restricted

So, noisy joints don’t automatically mean damaged joints!

If something doesn’t feel right though, we’re always happy to take a look.

Why do I keep getting the same headache?

Recurring headaches can have lots of different triggers, and sometimes it’s a combination of things rather than one obvious cause.

Tension through the neck and shoulders, stress, long hours at a desk, poor sleep, dehydration, eye strain or changes in routine can all play a part.

If your headaches tend to come with neck stiffness or muscle tension, treatment may help ease some of those contributing factors - but it’s important not to assume every headache is muscular.

If your headaches are new, severe, changing in pattern or happening very frequently, it’s worth speaking to your GP.

If they’re a familiar pattern and seem linked to tension or posture, we can help you look at what might be contributing.

You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong before you book.

That’s our job to help you work out 😊

You might just know that something feels tight, sore, uncomfortable or not quite right. You don’t need a diagnosis, a name for it, or even a perfect explanation of when it started.

We’ll talk through what’s been going on, look at how you’re moving and help figure out what might be contributing to it.

So if you’ve been putting off booking because you’re not quite sure *what* you need - don’t worry. You can simply start by telling us what you’re feeling.

hould I use heat or ice? 🧊🔥

It’s one of those questions we get asked all the time — and unfortunately, there isn’t one rule that works for everyone.

As a general guide:

🧊 Ice can be useful when something is newly irritated, swollen or feels hot and inflamed.

🔥 Heat can often feel better for stiffness, muscle tension or an area that feels tight and achy.

But the most important thing is how your body responds. If heat feels soothing, use heat. If ice gives you relief, use ice. Neither is usually a magic fix on its own - they’re simply tools to help manage symptoms.

If pain is persistent, worsening or you’re not sure what’s causing it, it’s worth getting it assessed rather than relying on heat or ice alone.

Why does my lower back ache after sitting all day?

Sitting for long periods can leave your back feeling stiff, achy or uncomfortable - especially if you’ve been in the same position for hours.

It’s not always that your posture is “bad”. Often, your body just doesn’t love staying still for too long.

Changing position regularly, getting up for a quick walk, moving your hips and spine, and building strength around your back can all help.

And if the ache keeps coming back, starts affecting what you can do, or just isn’t settling, it’s worth getting it looked at.

Sometimes the answer isn’t sitting perfectly - it’s simply moving more often.

Pain doesn’t have to be severe before it’s worth getting checked.

A lot of people wait until something is really painful before booking an appointment - but you don’t have to.

If something has been niggling, feeling tight, affecting how you move or simply not settling the way you expected, it can be worth getting it looked at sooner rather than later.

Sometimes a little advice, treatment or a few simple changes are all you need to stop something becoming more frustrating.

You don’t need to be in agony to ask for help.

Should I stop exercising if my back hurts?
Not necessarily 👀

In many cases, completely stopping movement can actually make your back feel stiffer and more sensitive. Gentle movement and modifying what you’re doing can often be more helpful than avoiding exercise altogether.

That said, it really depends on why your back is hurting and what movements are aggravating it. If something causes sharp pain, makes symptoms significantly worse, or you’re unsure what’s safe, it’s worth getting it assessed rather than simply pushing through.

Sometimes the answer isn’t “stop exercising” - it’s change the exercise, reduce the load, or adjust how you’re doing it.

If your back has been niggling for a while and you’re not sure what you should or shouldn’t be doing, we can help you work that out.

Neck feeling stiff, tight or just not quite right?

Neck pain and tension can creep in for all sorts of reasons - long days at a desk, training, stress, poor sleep, carrying little ones around, or simply doing a bit too much of the same thing.

When you come in to see us, we’ll take the time to work out what’s going on, where you’re feeling restricted and what might be contributing to it, then tailor your treatment to you.

Sometimes it’s about easing tension, sometimes improving movement, sometimes just giving an area that’s been working overtime a bit of attention.

If your neck has been niggling away, you don’t have to just put up with it 🤍
