FUNtasticYOGA

FUNtasticYOGA Trauma Sensitive Yoga & Mindfulness Classes for Adults, Children and Families. I've delivered classes at Om Yoga Show and Kendal Calling Festival.

FUNtasticYOGA adultsโ€™ classes specialise in gentle, restorative Yoga with an emphasis on teaching to beginners and those looking to reconnect with their practice. All the wonderful benefits of a regular practice include greater flexibility and strength, reduced stress, lower blood pressure, more energy and better sleep. These classes ease away tension in the body and mind, followed by guided deep

relaxation under a soft blanket with lavender scented eye pillows and socks on.โ€ฆ.I aim for a good 15 minutes if the mood calls for it. Donโ€™t worry, it always does ๐Ÿ˜Š

FUNtasticYOGA children's classes are all about having FUN whilst using adapted yoga poses and techniques to build self esteem, reduce stress, boost the immune system, improve concentration and much much more. Children are encouraged to be creative with their bodies whilst we play games, act out stories using yoga poses and discover ways to relax and focus. A key element of every class is to practice mindfulness which, in its simplest form, is to be aware that you are breathing in and out; the scientific benefits for children (and adults) can be life changing! The family and children's classes aren't quite as relaxed as my adult classes but there's always a lot of joy, connection and wonder to be had. Teaching since 2014, I first trained to share the magic of yoga & mindfulness with children whilst my two yoginis were very young. Now with Independent Yoga Network accredited trauma sensitive adult yoga teacher training under my belt I teach weekly adult open classes, at Care Homes, Schools, Nurseries, for HomeEd Groups and to families at all stages; at Parties and 1-2-1. Yoga is truly for all and I recommend trying lots of different styles and teachers until you find The One. You can talk to me, Cheryl, on 07917 584090 or email at [email protected]

AnnieT:Yoga in Stubbylee Park, Rose Garden - Saturday 9:30 ๐Ÿฅณ

Anyone else like this? Sometimes seems to happen so quickly that the fact that it is actually the can simply escape me. When people say 'What are your plans this weekend?" I can feel like a bunny in the headlights ๐Ÿคช ๐Ÿ˜‚
Amongst 'mum-duties', family, house-hold, routine & life - making that 'productively helpful time for me' might just fall between the cracks. So if you are nodding your head - you are not alone - I'm right on up there with you. Yes, even a person who is steeped in wellness practices, which I am, at times finds keeping the tricky, & I still have to work at building those , or in some cases rebuilding them. I am human!
So, I wish for you all a beautiful boundaried weekend that allows you some time to spend as you wish in ways that are meaningful to you ๐Ÿ’— ๐Ÿ™

And finally, thank you to the owners and housekeeper of The Wenning - Retreat Venue, who are always exceptionally accommodating. Ever grateful.

Therapeutic yoga practices are proving revolutionary to young people too.

When young people walk into CAMHS in Southampton, they often carry invisible weight: anxiety, trauma, or disconnection from their own bodies.

But behind one door, something remarkable is happening. Mats are rolled out, gentle breathing fills the room, and yoga therapy offers children a way to reconnect with themselves - without needing words.

Since its pilot in April 2023:
โ€ข 100+ children aged 6โ€“17 have accessed trauma-informed yoga therapy
โ€ข Clinicians report breakthroughs where traditional therapies had stalled
โ€ข Parents see real-life changes: calmer moods, better sleep, and improved emotional regulation

As one parent said: โ€œBefore yoga, my child would hit out and shout. Now they take themselves away to calm down. It has given them a tool they can use in the moment, and the difference at home is huge.โ€

Dr Jo Barker, consultant psychiatrist, and Charlotta Martinus, founder of Teen Yoga, are transforming the way mental health services support young people - showing that healing can begin with a single breath.
