Roses from one of my lovely teenage clients. Sometimes teenagers get a bad reputation through no fault of their own. I’ve been working with many teenagers lately and they are all trying to navigate this crazy rollercoaster of a world that we live in, whilst also trying to work out who they are as a person and dealing with the pressures that come with school expectations and exams, plus a lot of them are also coming to terms with traumatic events. It’s always a privilege to work with these young people as they are open minded and what to make the changes.

JUNE!!!!!!

Can you believe that we are in June?

Where is this year going? I know we are supposed to be in summer but the weather lately is very unpredictable. The start of a new month always gives us chance to reflect and think about what the month and season might bring.

It is always good to have something to focus on, it creates motivation and drive. It might also highlight that we need to change something in our life that is not serving us well.

Therapy is a great way to help you to navigate through changes and challenging times.

JUNE!!!!!!

Can you believe that we are in June?

Where is this year going? I know we are supposed to be in summer but the weather lately is very unpredictable. The start of a new month always gives us chance to reflect and think about what the month and season might bring.

It is always good to have something to focus on, it creates motivation and drive. It might also highlight that we need to change something in our life that is not serving us well.

Today is my Birthday, usually in May the weather is warm and Sunny, but it has been a bit all over the place lately.

Anyhow I am taking the day off to enjoy cake, and quality time with my 2 favourite people.

Have a good bank holiday weekend!

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

As it is half term coming up shortly I thought this would be a good reminder!

It is all about the juggling of so many plates, but it is ok to drop a plate, or a few. You are only human, you don't need to do everything.

If you are feeling really overwhelmed with juggling all the plates not just in school holidays, then therapy can really help you to manage and cope much better.

Let's Talk About Burnout

I have been speaking to lots of my clients last week about what they want to do differently next year. A few of them mentioned gaining a better work life balance, Having more time for themselves and being aware when things seem to be getting out of control.

So I thought it would be good to refresh your memory about what Burnout is and how it can impact you.

Burnout isn’t just about being tired, it is so much more than that, it’s a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress. It’s sneaky, and often, we don’t realise it until we’re deep in it.

Here are some common signs:
💤 Constant fatigue, no matter how much you rest
😔 Feeling detached or unmotivated
🤯 Increased irritability or frustration
🤕 Physical symptoms like headaches or stomach issues

But let’s have a reality check here, burnout isn’t just about overworking. It can come from:

Unrealistic expectations (from others or ourselves)
Neglecting self-care to meet deadlines
Lack of support in our personal or professional lives

Why Should We Care?
Burnout impacts your relationships, health, and even your creativity. When left unchecked, it can lead to long-term health problems like anxiety or depression.

How Can We Beat It?
Here are some ideas:
1️⃣ Set boundaries, learn to say NO.
2️⃣ Prioritise rest, it’s productive too.
3️⃣ Reach out to a therapist or good friend or family member, talking helps lighten the load.

Remember, it’s okay to take a break. You can’t pour from an empty cup.

ANXIETY

I work with a lot of client's who come to me because they feel that they are suffering with 'anxiety'.

Anxiety exists to make us vigilant against real life threats, it is there for a reason, and makes us human.

For some people living with overwhelming anxiety can feel scary or even life threatening, which can lead to suffering and misery.

The pandemic certainly heightened symptoms of anxiety and even though we are nearly 6 years down the line, I am still getting clients coming to me that are still not in the head space they were before the pandemic. Clients are still coming to terms with what went on and still reassessing their life, change takes time especially if you are suffering with anxiety.

It can be very scary and daunting reaching out for help, but when you do, you are taking the first step on moving forward.

If you feel you are struggling more than usual.

I can help you understand anxiety and give you the tools to manage and cope with anxiety on a daily basis.
