Cowes Chiropractic Clinic have introduced a FREE skin check clinic, every 8 weeks for Island residents!

This is a fantastic initiative in association with Zoe's Law and The Lighthouse Clinic, 62 Crocker Street

Zoe’s Law was created in memory of Zoe to raise awareness of melanoma and help save lives through earlier detection. Initiatives like this are exactly what we want to see more of in our community.

A huge thank you to Cowes Chiropractic Clinic for making these clinics possible and helping make potentially life-saving skin checks more accessible on the Island.

The first clinic will take place on Tuesday 13th October at Cowes Chiropractic Clinic.

The clinic is open to everyone, you do not need to be an existing patient.

To book your FREE skin check, email [email protected].

Please share this with your friends and family. A simple skin check could make an enormous difference.

This week is Know Your Numbers Week — a reminder of the importance of knowing your blood pressure and taking steps to look after your heart health ❤️‍🩹

Did you know your workplace can also play a role?

At The Lighthouse Clinic, we offer free Blood Pressure (BP) Champion training for workplaces. The training equips team members with the knowledge and confidence to:

• Raise awareness of blood pressure
• Start conversations around heart health
• Encourage colleagues to check their blood pressure
• Signpost people towards appropriate support

It’s a simple way to help create a workplace where looking after your health is part of the conversation.

Summer photo dump of what we’ve been up to here at The Lighthouse Clinic! 📸

From lots of skin & health checks and appointments to team away days and everything in between, it’s been a busy few months for the team.

Here’s a little look at some of what we’ve been getting up to this summer.

The Lighthouse Clinic is delighted to be sponsoring the Ryde Saints F.C. Under 8s football team again this season, providing the team with their new kits.

Last year, as part of our sponsorship, we provided the team with ‘Stay Cool’ caps and water bottles, as well as joining the players and coaches for a fun skin health session.

We also talked about the importance of protecting your skin outdoors and making sun protection a habit from an early age.

We’re proud to continue supporting the Ryde Saints and helping the next generation learn how to look after their skin while enjoying the sport they love.

Wishing the Under 8s a fantastic season! ⚽️

Last week, some of our Lighthouse Clinic team visited Cowes Harbour Commission at the Harbour Office, Town Quay, to provide skin checks for members of staff.

Taking skin checks directly into the workplace gives people the opportunity to have their skin checked in a familiar environment, while also encouraging people to be more aware of their own skin and any changes they may notice.

Early awareness can make a real difference, which is why we’re proud to support local businesses and organisations with accessible skin health checks across the Isle of Wight.

Thank you to everyone at Cowes Harbour Commission for welcoming the team 🙌🏼

This summer, we’ve been prioritising the importance of employers looking after their employees through workplace health checks.

We encourage employers to think about how they can support their team’s health, whether that’s through skin health checks, preventative health checks or overall wellbeing.

Here’s Glenn’s reminder of why making employee health a priority matters 🙌🏼

💙 Taking skin health into the Freshwater community.

Last week, our team visited Freshwater Memorial Hall to provide skin cancer checks for members of the local community, in partnership with Freshwater Parish Council.

It was a great opportunity to meet local residents, talk about the importance of being aware of changes to your skin and provide accessible preventative healthcare closer to home.

A big thank you to Freshwater Parish Council for helping us make the clinic possible, and to everyone who came along and took the time to prioritise their skin health.

While in Freshwater, we also stopped at Flow for lunch and enjoyed a great coffee!

We’re proud to continue bringing our services into communities across the Isle of Wight✨

Meet Amanda, one of our Nurse Practitioners at The Lighthouse Clinic 💙

Amanda began her nursing career in 1995 and brings extensive experience in cancer and palliative care. Her career has also taken her internationally with Médecins Sans Frontières in Zambia, supporting patients with HIV/AIDS, as well as to St Thomas’s Hospital in London, where she gained valuable experience in emergency and tropical medicine.

Since joining The Lighthouse Clinic in 2020, Amanda has been dedicated to caring for and supporting patients diagnosed with skin cancer.

Her experience, expertise and compassionate approach help our patients feel informed, supported and reassured throughout their care.

Recently, Amanda and Vicky visited The Hut to carry out skin checks for their team, and we were so pleased to receive this lovely feedback afterwards:

"I just wanted to say a huge thank you to both Vicky and Amanda for taking the time to come along to The Hut today and carry out skin checks with our team.

They were an absolute pleasure to have with us, and we’re so grateful they took time out of their day to meet everyone, provide such an important service and answer any questions or concerns the team had.

From our chef team and drivers, to our bar staff, office team, front of house and everyone working out on the water — thank you for taking the time to look after our team and help raise awareness around the importance of looking after our skin.

It was hugely appreciated by everyone."

It was a pleasure for our team to spend time with everyone at The Hut and bring preventative healthcare directly into the workplace.

A huge thank you to The Hut for welcoming us and for taking the time to share your experience. 💙

It was a pleasure to be part of this community initiative and provide free skin cancer checks for local residents.

Thank you to Sandown Town Council - Isle of Wight and the Sandown Beach Lifeguards for helping us make this possible.

We’re proud to support greater awareness, early detection and accessible skin health care in the community 💙

Free Skin Cancer Checks Delivered at The Broadway Centre, Sandown.
Sandown Town Council was pleased to welcome The Lighthouse Clinic to the Broadway Centre, where local residents were offered free, confidential skin cancer checks as part of a community health initiative.
The drop in sessions were delivered in partnership with The Lighthouse Clinic and supported by the Sandown Beach Lifeguards, who regularly promote sun safety awareness along the seafront. The aim of the event was to encourage early detection of skin changes and to make preventative healthcare more accessible to residents and visitors.
Throughout the day, attendees received professional assessments, advice on monitoring moles and sun exposed areas, and guidance on when to seek further medical support. The initiative was particularly welcomed by those who work outdoors or spend extended time on the beach during the summer months.
Malcolm White, General Manager from The Lighthouse Clinic said “We are delighted with the turnout and want to emphasise just how important community based screening opportunities are.” Sandown Town Council extends its thanks to the clinic team and the lifeguards for their continued commitment to local wellbeing.
The council hopes to host further sessions in the future as part of its ongoing work to support public health, early intervention, and accessible community services.
