Ahhh, September. We've missed you.

With everyone back together, it's completely normal to see the return of:

💊 RUN OUT OF YOUR MEDICATION? EMS MAY BE ABLE TO HELP

The Emergency Medicines Supply (EMS) service is an NHS safety net for when you unexpectedly run out of your regular medication.

A few important things to know 👇

💊 It must be a medicine regularly prescribed to you.
⏰ You must have an immediate need and be unable to get your usual prescription in time
🚫 Some medicines can’t be supplied - **controlled drugs are generally excluded**
🩺 Every request must be clinically assessed by the pharmacist.
📦 The quantity supplied may be limited
🔁 EMS is for emergencies, not as a regular alternative to ordering repeat prescriptions

If you do get caught short,
👤 Come into the pharmacy yourself
💊 bring proof of your usual medication if you can , such as the labelled box or repeat slip

🩺 Speak to a member of staff and we’ll advise you on the best way forward.** 💚

Before the September germs start making their way home, give your family medicine cupboard a quick check:

🌡️ **Thermometer** - working and ready to go
💊 **Children's paracetamol & ibuprofen** - check the expiry dates
🤧 **Antihistamine** - useful for allergies, bites and stings
🩹 **Plasters & basic first aid supplies** - because playground knees happen
🪮 **Head lice comb** - you might be very glad you have one!
💨 **Inhalers & spacers** - check doses remaining and expiry dates
💉 **Adrenaline pens** - make sure they're in date and school has what they need
💊 **Regular medicines** - check you've got enough and organise anything that needs to be kept at school

And while you're at it, have a quick clear-out of anything expired, no longer needed or unidentified - you can bring unwanted medicines back to the pharmacy for safe disposal.
