Noticing beauty in the changing seasons

Often people complain about the weather, especially the rain, saying they want the Summer back and the sun and BBQs on the beach.
I get that.

But how about we look around and try to also find beauty in the new season, the decay, the slowing down and resting…?

Just look at how the sky and the colours of the ocean are changing, the birds flying Southward to warmer places, the browns, oranges and yellows of dry leaves and the last flowers still alive despite the first signs of death…

This is the season to listen to slow down, keep warm and surround yourself with warm- hearted people.

First weekend in our new location

Thank you, amazing community, for trying out our new base on the slope at Great Western Beach. We hope you had a wonderful time in the heat & the cold (sea, shower or plunge pool).
There’s still a few bits to do to call it all perfect but we’re on it!

From Beach to Slope at Great Western Beach

On Monday we moved our sauna from the sand to the safer slope at Great Western…
2 tractors, lots of helping hands and brains and a lot of patience and deep belly breathing 😮‍💨 With the season changing we wanted to make sure she doesn’t get washed away by bigger waves and higher tides….

And here we are- in the perfect position opposite the cafe (still open in October to grab your post- sauna tea or coffee!), ready for sunset saunas, sea swims and all the sauna fun!

OPEN again from this FRIDAY, 2nd October, 7am!!!

When your friend sends you some pictures of your sauna opening 4.5 years ago

It feels like a long time ago- our sauna opening in our friends’ garden. Surrounded by trees, bluebells, by a small stream. The dream location.

Breastfeeding my 2- months old son. No idea how to do it all. But the energy was there. The hope. Lots of ideas.

4.5 years of so much learning, perseverance, head- scratching, tough times, wonderful high times with the best team and community…the list goes on.

We love you! Yes to more sweat, head- scratching and warm smiles!

BIG NEWS!!!!

We will stay at Great Western Beach all Winter!!!

And we are soooo excited!

Next Monday we’ll move Olla Hiki a tiny bit up the slope to be safe from the Winter Storms and we’ll create a beautiful, cosy space for you.

When you visit us you will find:

- a hot, wood- fired sauna
- a changing room
- a shower and plunge pool to cool down
- obviously you can jump into the sea
- weekly classes on our event space (from November)
- the best sea views

Open again on Friday, 2nd of October!!!
