Working out in Spring / Summer
Spring and Summer for me are when I do most of my coaching and DO the actual sports I love.
There’s more of a focus on actual gameplay scenarios as I’m out in the water actually surfing and coaching, rolling at BJJ and teaching a lot.
This means my training changes to largely maintenance sessions. When I’m doing the sports I love - the focus is on progressing in the skills I want to learn in those specifically.
I stick largely to what I know (conditioning wise) during this window because there’s a lot going on that’s already using a lot energy to learn.
That doesn’t mean I don’t have fun doing it - it means I get outside and do what I love and have always done: hang rings in a tree and push, pull, squat and do mobility.
This is just how I like to train and work - the key is consistency. Greasing of the groove.
I’ve recently been teaching clients how to PERIODISE because a lot of them do lots of surfing, BJJ, run distance etc - and times to peak, maintain and taper are hugely important for longevity.
Fancy learning this kind of training?
