WALKING WITH LOVE✨️💙✨️

I'm walking 1 mile a day throughout October to support the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

As many of you know, my brother took his last breath a few weeks ago. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer 3 days after we moved back to Cornwall in July, and sadly passed away on the 14th September. When I first signed up for this challenge he was still alive. so all I can do now is offer this little gift in memory of him...
I'll continue to breathe for you big brother 💙

Whether you donate £2, £5 or £50, every little bit helps. Any contribution to this wonderful cause will make an impact, hopefully encouraging more research and awareness of this particular type of cancer.

My gofundme link is below 👇🏼

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the primary UK charity dedicated exclusively to supporting everyone affected by lung cancer.

Thank you so much for all your support and kindness so far. I'll pop the link in my bio section.

With warmth, love and gratitude, Sam ✨️💙✨️

SHARAD RITUCHARYA (autumn routine) 🍂

The seasons always remind me how life moves in cycles... Expansion and contraction. Growth and rest. Energy and stillness. And our bodies are designed the same way.

The science of Ayurveda encourages aligning ourselves with the rhythms of nature. With each season, our mind and body require slight adjustments, so adapting our diet and lifestyle can help sustain homeostasis. We'll soon be transitioning into the season which gifts us the most stunning array of colours in nature, what's also known in Ayurveda as the 'Vata phase' of the year (autumn - early winter). Space and Air are the most prevalent elements this time of year (relative to the weather patterns we encounter) which can invite drying and cooling energies to our body inside and out. It may present itself as increased dryness in the skin, agitated mind, disturbed sleep, gas, bloating, irregular bowel movement, or anxiety. You can balance these symptoms by adopting a few of these simple yet effective suggestions:

🍂 TASTES TO FAVOUR; sweet, sour, salty

🍂 FOODS; warm, nourishing soups, stews, kitchari,
ghee, cooked spiced apples, rice dishes, dates, squash, root veg, oats, bananas, oranges, beetroot, turmeric milk. Avoid ice cold beverages, raw salads, and fridge cold food

🍂 SPICES; think cloves, ginger, cumin, cinnamon, turmeric, fennel, nutmeg, cardamom. Or simply sip on a delicious chai!

🍂 BEFORE YOU SHOWER; give yourself a full body
self-massage with warmed sesame oil. A simple tummy massage (clockwise motion), scalp, foot or hand massage are also very beneficial this time of year

🍂 YOGA; gentle sun salutations, cat-cow, warrior l, warrior Il, tree pose, legs-up-the-wall, child pose savasana. Nadi shodhana pranayama

🍂 WRAP UP; sounds obvious, but popping on a hat, scarf and gloves works wonders. Massaging a little oil onto your ears also soothes and protects from the elements

Enjoy the grounding effects of being out in nature this autumn, and be sure to consume as many of the seasonal, restorative foods Mother Earth has to offer. Happy harvest 🤎

END OF AN ERA 🦋

I can't quite believe it's my final 2 days of working here!

These wonderful therapy rooms have allowed me to hold space, offer moments of calm, and encourage healing to take place for so many of my lovely clients during my time here in Dorset.

Sending huge gratitude to all who've continued to walk through the door and trust me with their body's. It has been an honour to meet you and treat you, and I look forward to seeing many of you again down in Cornwall (it's a big list) 😀

To the gorgeous and gifted therapists there... you've been a huge support and a pleasure to work alongside the past few years. What a squad!

Its not au revoir, it's à bientôt 💫

NEED A RETREAT THERAPIST?? ✨️

I've had the absolute pleasure of working as a therapist at a variety of magical places over the years. From wellness, yoga and sound healing retreats in the countryside, to team building exercises and corporate events at castles.

The treatments I offer at these spaces are everything you could possibly need to soothe your senses, nourish your soul, and feel totally immersed in calm. A mindful moment just for you, where nothing else is required other than to breathe and just be ✨️

The thing I love most about being part of and working at a retreat is the connection. It's so beautiful to witness the weaving together from all walks of life, observing new relationships and bonds being formed. Healing takes place, not only through treatments and activities, but through unique affinity. Like-minded souls assist each other from similar journeys, holding space, sharing stories and experiences.

It really is rather lovely ✨️

If you're looking to source a therapist for a retreat, event or festival in or around Cornwall, please feel free to get in touch to discuss this further.

With love and gratitude, Sam 🪷

BACK TO BALANCE 🌼

Everyone seems to be loving this treatment at the moment! 💛 So why not give your body, mind, and senses a little love too?

I devised this nurturing treatment to focus on areas that store the majority of tension; the back, feet, scalp, and face. I think I'd book in for this if I could, its almost like 4 treatments in one.

It begins with a luxurious marigold and calendula sugar scrub and tension relieving massage on the back. This is followed by a deeply nourishing organic facial and a calming scalp + foot massage

Clients have mentioned this leaves them feeling restored, refreshed and rebalanced 🫶🏻

WELCOME to 'SAMKURA'

With my return back to Cornwall in July, I shall be transitioning away from my current business name of Dorset Ayurveda.

A new beginning calls for a new name.

Here's a little insight into the reasons behind my blending of the words 'Sama' and 'Sakura' in case you were wondering 👇🏼

SAMA
In certain cultures sama means listener, yet in others it signifies respect, equilibrium, and is frequently used to describe a calmness and tranquility of mind... balance is the key.

SAKURA (cherry blossoms)
Sakura holds deep significance in Japan as a profound symbol of transience, impermanence, renewal and the beauty of life's fleeting nature. Blooming intensely for only one to two weeks, they embody the philosophy of 'mono no aware', encouraging mindfulness and presence.

These are all important values and philosophy which I try to embody in life, and also in my practice as a therapist.

Don't worry, all of the gorgeous treatments on the menu will remain the same with Samkura, plus a couple of new ones I'll introduce later down the line. My Cornwall location will be confirmed closer to the time.

Look forward to seeing you there 🩵

SPRING INTO LIFE 🌸

As we are still transitioning from a long winter slumber, springtime brings with it a sense of renewal, cleansing, lightness, and inspiration. During any seasonal change, the qualities in the natural world around us begin to shift.

We can help avoid any unwanted 'kapha' accumulation (dampness, heaviness, stagnation, coldness) by following a few simple suggestions the science of Ayurveda encourages at this time of year;

🌸 Rise with the sun + scrape your tongue

🌸 Warm sesame oil masages & dry body brushing

🌸 Salt water gargling for any excess mucus production

🌸 Concentrate on bitter, astringent, spicier tastes to counteract the heavy, damp qualities lingering from winter

🌸 Up your intake of dark, leafy greens. Avoid too much dairy, sweet, overly-oily or fried foods

🌸 This is the most ideal time of vear to do a cleanse or incorporate gentle fasting into your diet

🌸 You may notice your digestive fire is a little weaker, so opt for lighter, simpler food choices and slightly smaller portions

🌸 Add plenty of spices to your cooking - ginger, cumin, coriander, fennel, turmeric, black pepper

🌸 Get outsidel! Take advantage of the longer days and breathe in nature

🌸 Practice sun salutations + right nostril breathing
(surya bhedan)

🌸 Herbal allies; Chyawanprash is an excellent tonic and immunity regulator this time of year

I HAVE SOME NEWS 🪷

With spring comes many changes, and this year has brought about a big decision... to return home to Cornwall. After almost 9 years in beautiful Dorset, myself and my husband will be moving back, as of July.

It has been a subject of discussion for quite some time, with varying factors for the decision. But now seems like a very natural and right time to go and be closer to my elderly parents, amongst many other reasons.

Our time in Dorset has offered yet another adventure in life for us. A county full of stunning countryside and a wild jurassic coastline... it really has been quite a special place to live. I'll miss my Durdledoor hikes, that's for certain!

But most of all, I shall miss each and every client that has walked through the door and supported me and my business whilst I've been located here.
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being such amazing, loyal clients and trusting me with your body. I feel such gratitude for our sessions throughout your wellness journey, and continue to learn so much from each and every one of you. All the conversations, laughter, tears, life stories and travel tales shared will be in my heart always 🩵

I shall be setting up a practice and taking all the gorgeous treatments down south (there'll be a new ocean inspired one too), so watch this space for where I'll be located. A few of my Dorset clients have already booked in, so please feel free to keep in touch, and hopefully see more of you there 🙏🏼

Sending love, health and gratitude,
Sam 🩵🩵🩵
