Life is a lot sometimes, and we all have different paths to walk. Whether you are navigating divorce, PTSD, fibromyalgia, anxiety, neurodivergence or other challenges, yoga might help.

When you get onto the yoga mat, you give yourself permission to step out of the stress, and to take a break from your worries. As I’ve worked through the issues above, yoga has been my support and the thing that has held me together.

It’s not just exercise, it’s not just mindfulness, it’s a way to bring your mind and body together and move towards a more balanced version of yourself.

Why yoga?

In my practice, it’s about the connection with myself, the ability to listen to my body and calm my mind. And when I’m teaching, it’s about connecting with other people, and helping them to find that connection too.

There are many ways to practice yoga and sometimes you need to try a few styles before you find the right fit.

Hatha yoga focuses on asana (postures) and pranayama (breathwork), and it is suitable for everyone.

Join me at FWX gym, next to Coop at Hele Park, on Wednesday mornings, 10-11am.

This is mental health awareness week, which seems like a good time to talk about the way yoga has supported me through the hardest times of my life. It’s made a huge difference to my mental health and it’s an essential for me.

I often recommend yoga to people going through stressful times. You don’t have to be fit or flexible, it’s all about connecting with yourself and listening to what you need.

If you have been through a lot in recent weeks, months or years, perhaps Yoga Nidra could help with your healing process right now. You’ll find guided tracks online and you can choose the length and theme you prefer. We use Yoga Nidra practices on Retreat Days, and in regular yoga classes we finish with a shorter deep relaxation, or savasana practice.

Yoga asanas (postures), meditation and breath work all help us to bring the mind and body into balance and restore us to a place of calm. This is great news for our mental health!

Wednesdays 10-11am, Hatha Yoga classes at FWX gym (next to Coop at Hele Park, Newton Abbot). £10 one off or £34 for block of 4 (to use within 5 weeks or for specific dates).

People often tell me they plan to start yoga when they have more time, are a bit fitter, feel better…

But yoga meets you where you are. There’s no need to show up in any particular way or to be fit, flexible or in a good head space.

Yoga is great for your body, and it also supports your mental health. Join me at FWX Gym (next to the Coop at Hele Park, Newton Abbot), 10-11am on Wednesdays.

This is a gentle Hatha yoga class that is suitable for everyone. As well as yoga postures, we use breathing techniques and relaxation to calm the mind and leave you feeling energised and de-stressed.

Are you ready to relax? Next weekend, we'll be enjoying yoga, breathing and deep relaxation on this day retreat at the beautiful Namaste Barn, just five minutes from Kingsteignton.

Lunch, tea and cake are included, and we'll be looking at some techniques to help us manage stress in our daily lives. If you're looking for a reset, this is a chance to rest and restore.

I can't promise it'll fix all your problems, but you will leave feeling more relaxed! Yoga is great for calming and balancing the body and mind, and building strength and flexibility without putting your body under pressure.
