🏠 Moved home or changed your contact details?

You can use the NHS App to update your home address and add or update your email address and mobile phone number.

Keeping your details up to date helps important NHS letters, messages and calls reach you, including appointment details, test results and screening invitations. This reduces the risk of missing checks or treatment and helps keep your personal health information confidential.

It also means NHS staff spend less time dealing with returned letters and trying to find the right contact details, freeing up time to support patients.

📱 Log in to the NHS App on your phone or tablet, or through the NHS website, then select Profile → Contact details. To update your address, select Home address. To update your contact details, select Email and phone number.

If your new address is outside your GP practice’s catchment area, you’ll be directed to the ‘Find a GP’ service.

If you cannot update your details in the app, please contact your GP surgery.

Hello everybody. My name is Dr Ben Titford I wanted to let you know about a recent report from the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Patients Association.

I’m sure all of you will have experienced the frustration of trying to navigate the NHS maze. This is a frustration shared by GPs, who just want to care for their patients but instead find themselves putting out fires and fighting against dead ends and detours.

This report, and the accompanying petition, call for the Government to listen to the patients and GPs who are asking for:

A health system that easy to navigate for all

Enough GPs so patients can see their GP when they need to

User-friendly systems so patients can access their information and track referrals

You can read the full report, as well as hear patient stories here: https://www.rcgp.org.uk/representing-you/patient-campaign

If you agree, please consider signing the petition here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/762586

The College has joined with the Patients Association to launch a campaign to make general practice truly accessible and navigable for all.

We need your help . Please can you let us know if you are unable to attend your booked appointment at Ashburton Surgery . We are seeing a steady increase in the number of patients who are failing to attend their booked appointment especially for our nursing team .

Ashburton Surgery Flu clinic - we would like to thank our patients for their patience, good humour and understanding this morning . Unfortunately for the first part of the morning the queues waiting to get into the surgery were very long, although once in the building the patient flow worked well. The queue build ups were due to a combination of factors - the increase in the number of patients booked to attend, the limited car parking and patients arriving much earlier than their scheduled appointment time.
We will of course consider all these factors ongoing, discuss our learning points and introduce changes to mitigate against this happening again .
Huge apologies from us all here at Ashburton Surgery.

Free NHS Digital Weight Management Programme

Did you know that you may be eligible for free NHS online support to help you manage your weight?

The NHS Digital Weight Management Programme is a 12-week online programme for adults who are living with obesity and also have high blood pressure, type 1 or type 2 diabetes, or both.

You will usually be eligible if your BMI is 30 or above. A lower BMI threshold of 27.5 applies for people from some ethnic minority backgrounds.

The programme is designed to be flexible. You can work through it online, at your own pace and in your own time, using a smartphone, tablet or computer. It includes practical support with healthy eating, activity, wellbeing and making sustainable lifestyle changes, with additional coaching support available where needed.

If you are eligible, your GP practice can refer you. Find out more, including the full eligibility criteria, on the NHS England website:

Don’t put your bowel screening kit to one side

Since bowel cancer screening started in England in 2006, it has helped find around 70,000 bowel cancers. It is estimated to save up to 2,400 lives each year.

If you’re aged 50 to 74, you’ll usually receive a screening kit through the post every two years. It only needs one small sample and can be completed at home.

Screening can pick up bowel cancer before you have any symptoms, when it is often easier to treat. It can also find polyps that could become cancer in the future.

So, when your kit arrives, please complete it and send it back. It could save your life.

If you have symptoms that could be bowel cancer, please contact your GP rather than waiting for a screening kit.
