I mentioned on my stories the other day that I’d been to dermatology to have a mole checked.
Ironically, it’s on the side of my b**b. A place that sees next to no sun, which feels pretty relevant to this post.
They think it looks okay, but they’d rather remove it and send it to the lab to be sure. And THIS is where I have to give dermatology its flowers. When it comes to identifying and investigating suspicious moles and skin cancers, they are bloody good at it. ( and good Derms ! Worth their weight in gold )
But the rest of that appointment? Mind-blowingly blinkered in places, and I have a LOT of tea to spill. That deserves its own post because there’s a much bigger conversation to be had.
For now, check your skin. And not just the bits that see the sun. I really believe doing regular mole mapping is such an essential thing to get in the habit of doing
Scalp, behind your ears, eyelids, under your nails, between your toes, groin, breasts and all the other places you wouldn’t necessarily think to look.
Skin cancer definitely doesn’t require an invitation from the sun it can turn up in the most hidden places
More on that dermatology appointment coming, because I have THOUGHTS. 👀
