Where did I go dressed as a lampshade you may ask?

Well, this is not your regular funeral attire, but this look is in honor of my oldest ever Pilates & Breathwork client, Nancy Harrison.

Her funeral, a celebration of her long life, took place today, and we were requested to wear bright colours 🌈

Nancy loved to knit 🧶and was often found knitting poppies for Remembrance Day. We were also gifted a poppy knitted by Nancy herself. 🌺

I knew quite a lot about Nancy‘s life, as whilst I was teaching her, I used to ask her about where she worked and what she did and what she got up to when she was younger.

The one thing I learned about today was that Nancy rode a motorbike! 🏍️

She didn’t like driving a car, this was her method of transport to her job back in the day.

Always a cheeky little smile…

Recently, the more I teach, the more I have been coming to the realisation that trauma, stress and mental health plays a huge role in how the physical body behaves.

This is why I love to use Breathwork, techniques to calm the nervous system, yoga and using the mind/body connection in all my Pilates classes, yoga classes, 1-1 Reformer and Nervous System Reset group and 1-1 sessions.

If you’re currently working with me, you might not even recognise that I’m doing this. The things I use are subtle, often chosen specifically for the person or people in front of me, in that moment, on that day.

Often, the ‘right’ thing is to create calm. Not to work the body hard, but to address the levels of stress, to instill a calmer sense of self or create a safe space to just be.

My classes are not your run of the mill. They’re a concoction of everything I have ever learnt through all the trainings I have completed over many, many years.

If you’ve ever tried yoga and not felt it was for you, then come give my classes a try.

If you’ve ever tried Pilates and felt you didn’t gel with the practice or the teacher, head on over this way!

I took a trip to London today to meet Lydia - .bod who I have known for years and speak to pretty much daily, but have never actually met!

We spent the day in London, doing what we do best. We walked 25k steps, talked and ate! 🚶🏼🗣️🍴🥩

1️⃣0️⃣ things I’ve noticed since buzzing off my hair a month ago… ⤵️

1️⃣ I keep waiting for the wind to blow my hair in my face 💨👱‍♀️ it never does 😂

2️⃣ I can wash my hair 3 x in a day and I never have to blow dry and style it 💆🏼‍♂️🧴

3️⃣ Everyone has said it feels like it’s been this way forever ♾️

4️⃣ I get told I look like Sinead O’Connor on the regular 😂

5️⃣ I’ve developed an obsession with navy blue 🔷🌀🔹🤷🏼‍♂️

6️⃣ I LOVE my new hair and wanna keep it forever! 🤍

7️⃣ Teenage boys apologise for being in my way, even when they’re not 😂

8️⃣ I still reach for my comb and hairdryer, daily! 🪮💆🏼‍♂️I’ve had to collect them all and hide them 🤓

9️⃣ I can do a Downward Dog and don’t have hair in my face or need to adjust it afterwards 💇🏼‍♂️

1️⃣0️⃣ I wish I’d have got rid of my hair YEARS AGO! It’s now my whole personality! 🥰

Breath is SO important.

It’s difficult to explain just HOW important it is, especially in our modern day lifestyles.

I weave the breath into both Pilates and Yoga classes, and as a Breathwork Facilitator, who has completed a 400 hour training in Breathwork, I’d hope I have a pretty good grasp on how it impacts the physical body, pelvic floor, nervous system, stress levels, the core and mood, sleep and the ability to tolerate whatever life throws are you!
