Change is happening.

Our energy changes. Our emotions change. Our needs change. Our capacity changes.

And when we don't feel like ourselves, when things that felt easy suddenly don't, we interpret those changes as a problem.

We want to get back to how we felt before. We try to fix the symptom, push through the tiredness, control the emotion, get our motivation back.

The body gets the blame.

But change is happening whether we like it or not.

Change is part of creation. Without change, we cannot become more, create more or experience more of whatever success means to us.

We're not going back.

What I've learnt is that rather than continually fighting change, we can learn how to understand it and work with it.

And one of the ways I've learnt to do that is through what I think of as the energy of the seasons.

The seasons don't teach us how to stay the same.

They teach us how to change.

And I believe learning how to work with that is fundamental to all of us - to our wellbeing, to whatever success means to us, and, importantly, to the generations that come after us.

I’ll be live on Zoom this Saturday at 2pm for a very informal Q&A where I’ll talk a little more about what I mean by the seasons, how they can help us understand our own changes and rhythms, and answer any questions you have.

The link to join is in my latest article on Substack which you can either read or listen to. The link is in my bio.

Drop me a line if you have any burning questions or would like more information. I'd also love to receive your thoughts.

It’s time to soften 💖

We talk a lot about self-love. About opening our hearts and letting love in.

But what if your heart is guarded?

Life happens. We get hurt, disappointed, overwhelmed. We learn to protect ourselves, keep going, hold things in and sometimes keep people at a distance.

And we might not even realise we’re doing it.

Maybe you find it difficult to receive help or affection.
You’re always the one giving.
You struggle to let people in.
You keep busy rather than sit with how you feel.
Or you simply don’t feel as open, warm or connected as you once did.

How can we practise self-love if we can’t easily access that softer part of ourselves?

Come along to The Self Love Workshop where together we'll soften those barriers and reconnect with the heart ❤️

We're live, online on Sunday October 4th.

Comment "Self Love" and I'll send you the details. 🫶

I thought I’d share a little bit about me and the journey that has shaped the work I do today.

I haven’t arrived at this work through a tidy, straight line. I’ve lived through many of the things I now help women understand.

For years I pushed through pain and illness, rarely allowing myself to stop. I propped myself up with alcohol and drugs. I experienced self-punishment, self-hate, abuse, deep depression and very little sense of confidence or self-worth. I hated my body and how I looked. I was a people pleaser and spent years looking for what I thought was love in all the wrong places, often paying a high price for it.

Eventually an opportunity came my way and that’s when I had my breakdown-breakthrough moment.

It was during a treatment, back in 2010, where I had a serious emotional release and a profound shift in perception. I suddenly realised that all the stress in my life wasn't simply happening to me. I was participating in creating it.

And, if I was the one creating it, then I could bloody well UN-create it! 😮

That changed everything.

I started seeing people differently. I began noticing the patterns underneath what people were experiencing - the way we think, live, respond, suppress, push, please and disconnect from ourselves, and how those patterns can eventually show up in the body and in our lives.

I could see it so clearly, and I wanted to help them see it so they too could release themselves from the pain.

So I began learning.

I trained in holistic therapies and became a reflexologist. I changed the way I ate and lived. I left my job and built a therapy business. I worked with hundreds of people, gave treatments, studied, experimented and kept asking questions.

And then I wanted more.

More for myself, and more for the people I was working with.

That led me into coaching and deeper exploration of the mind-body connection. I continued experimenting on myself, changing things, observing, learning and questioning what we'd been taught to accept as normal.

My own health and relationship with my body changed enormously.

And somewhere along the way all of these experiences began to come together into the work I do now.

I'm interested in what happens when we stop handing our power away. When we learn to listen to the body rather than constantly overriding it. When we become curious about our patterns rather than judging ourselves for them. When we begin to understand that our bodies are communicating with us rather than simply betraying us. And when we start to realise that getting older doesn't have to mean becoming increasingly disconnected from ourselves.

This is particularly important to me when it comes to women and the years around menopause. I don't believe women should simply be told that declining health, loss of vitality and feeling increasingly unwell are inevitable.

Life shouldn’t be something we push through or suffer. And I will continue experimenting, exploring, learning and sharing my my journey as a living mirror - the good the great and the phenomenal. Not because I’m better or one of the lucky ones, but because I choose to subscribe to a different way of being.

I'm not here to tell you I've got it all figured out. I'm here to show you what becomes possible when you start questioning what you've been told, listening to yourself and choosing differently.

I'm in an experimental phase right now, and I'm slowly building this new space and finding my way with it.

I'll still be sharing things here on Facebook, but it will really only ever be a drip feed of what I'm exploring, thinking about and learning.

If you'd like to connect with me more deeply, hear more of what I'm thinking about, discover new things as they emerge and get a better feel for the work I'm creating, 💌 Julie’s Journal 💌 is the best way to stay connected.

It's where I'll be writing more freely, sharing the things I'm exploring and taking you a little further behind the scenes of my work and my own journey.

And if you're new to Julie's Journal, don't worry, signing up doesn't mean you're signing yourself up to be bombarded with emails forever! You'll receive a small handful of emails to welcome you in and give you a feel for the space. After that, I'll write when I have something worth sharing.

Everything is an invitation.

An invitation to think differently.
An invitation to explore.
An invitation to question.
An invitation to see what might be possible for you.

So if you haven't already, please do come and connect with me over there.

It's the middle of Summer ☀️

The season of longer days, sunshine... and doing more.

But what if your body is quietly asking for the opposite?

Not more doing, but...

More stillness.

More space.

More YOU.

Nature reminds us that Summer and Winter exist in relationship. Fire and Water. Yang and Yin. We need both.

When we spend too long living in the energy of constant doing, giving and striving, it's easy to feel depleted, disconnected and overwhelmed.

That's why I'm opening The Winter Invitation - a gentle 4-week journey into Inner Winter to help you reconnect with your body, learn its language and begin living body-led rather than stress-led.

We begin next Tuesday, 28th July at 7.30pm.

Investment: £49, with a community-supported sliding scale from £21 for anyone who needs it.

If you're feeling that quiet pull - or desperate need! 😅 - to return to yourself, comment "WINTER" below or send me a message and I'll send you all the details ❄️

Needing some respite from the summer heat? 🌞🔥

Fancy taking a plunge into Winter instead? ❄️☃️

It's summer 🌞

It's busy 🥳 🌴🍹

There's so much going on and, it seems, there's more time to do more 😜!!!

Longer days, sunshine, holidays, gatherings, sweet treats, w**e, fun 💃 🕺

And yet, all that "joy" can come at a cost 🙄

Constantly on the go.
Resisting slowing down.
Putting yourself last.
Choosing doing over being.

"I'll get everything done first... then I'll rest."

But you never do. Or so called “rest” is opening a bottle of w**e and vegging in front of the TV.

You think you're relaxing, but you're not. You've simply moved from one distraction to another.

There's no OFF switch.

You wake up the next morning and it's Groundhog Day.

Get dressed.
Keep going.
The sun's out.
It'll be alright.

But it ISN'T 😔

You're TIRED. Emotions are all over the place. You're frustrated because you did “it” again, and you know you need to take better care of yourself, but you just can't seem to get off the merry-go-round.

And part of you doesn't even want to.

Because it's Summer 💃🍹😜

You've waited for this 🙌

The light. The warmth. The lazy, hazy evenings. The freedom. The romance of it all.

But somehow something is missing. Some kind of connection inside, that you just can't seem to touch.

All of life seems to be happening around you. It's surreal, even, like you're having some kind of out-of-body experience. You're here but you're not here.

And while you're being the life and soul of everyone else's experience, there's no life or soul in your own 🥺

You tell yourself you should be enjoying it. That you should be making the most of it.

You should be Summer!! 😎

But deep down what you're really craving is Winter 🙏

Not the season.

The stillness.
The pause.
The space to hear yourself again.
To reconnect with your body.
To take care of you the way you want to.
To return to yourself again ❤️

I feel this too.

And so the greatest gift we can give ourselves - right now, even in the height of Summer - is permission to enter Winter 🌚

All you need to do is type Winter below and I'll send you the details for my Inner Winter Journey.
