Whether it’s a fear of flying, spiders, driving, needles, public speaking, or something else, phobias can have a significant impact on daily life.

Many clients experience significant improvements in as few as 3 sessions, although everyone’s journey is unique.

**O is for Outcomes**

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps you focus on where you want to be, rather than where you’ve been.

A clear outcome creates direction, hope, and momentum for positive change.

Rather than asking:
❌ “Why do I feel this way?”

We might ask:
✅ “What would you like instead?”
✅ “What would be happening if things were better?”
✅ “What small signs would tell you that progress is being made?”

When we focus on outcomes, we move away from feeling stuck and towards possibility. The clearer the destination, the easier it becomes to notice opportunities and take steps in the right direction.

✨ Imagine waking up tomorrow and things were just a little better. What would be the first thing you’d notice?

***N is for Neuroplasticity 🧠**

Neuroplasticity is our brain’s amazing ability to learn, adapt, and create new patterns of thinking throughout our lives.

When we’re stressed or anxious, it’s easy to get stuck focusing on the worst case scenario. The good news is that our brains can learn a different way. By regularly noticing what’s going well, and focusing on solutions rather than problems, we can strengthen more helpful thought patterns.

Neuroplasticity reminds us that change is possible. With time and repetition, we can train our minds to become more resilient, optimistic, and better equipped to cope with life’s challenges.

✨ Small positive steps, repeated often, can create lasting change.

**M is for Memory 💭**

Take a moment today to remember:

✨ A time you overcame a challenge
✨ A moment you felt proud of yourself
✨ Something that made you smile recently

Focusing on positive memories helps strengthen neural pathways associated with resilience and wellbeing.

What positive memory comes to mind for you today?

**L is for Limbic System 🧠**

The limbic system is often referred to as our primitive brain and plays a key role in how we respond to life’s challenges.

One of its most influential parts is the amygdala, which is responsible for our fight, flight, or freeze responses. When it senses danger or stress, it prepares us to react quickly.

The limbic system also includes the hippocampus, where learned habits and behaviours are stored – like automatically reaching for biscuits when life feels difficult.

Another important part is the hypothalamus, which releases chemicals such as adrenaline and cortisol in response to stressful situations.

When we’re operating mainly from this part of the brain, we tend to focus on problems, expect the worst, and see the negatives rather than the positives. That’s because its primary job is to keep us alive, not necessarily to keep us happy.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps calm the primitive brain and strengthen the rational part of the brain, helping us feel more positive and in control.

**K is for Knowledge**

In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, every journey begins with knowledge.

Before sessions start, we have an initial consultation where you’ll learn how your brain works and what is happening when you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, phobias, stress, or other difficulties.

Understanding why you feel the way you do can be incredibly empowering. For many clients, this knowledge alone brings relief, helping them make sense of their experiences and see that positive change is possible.

The initial consultation provides practical insights, reduces uncertainty, and gives you the first tools to begin moving forward. It’s often the first important step on the path to recovery, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

Knowledge is power and understanding your mind is the beginning of change.

**J is for Journaling ✍️**

At my Initial Consultation, I encourage clients to get themselves a notebook (and who doesn’t love a lovely new notebook?! 😊).

Before going to bed each night, I suggest writing down what’s been good about the day. This isn’t traditional journaling where we analyse every thought and feeling. Instead, it’s simply a chance to focus on the positives, however small they may seem.

By writing down the “what’s been good” moments, we give ourselves a positive boost before sleep. Rather than replaying the difficult or stressful parts of the day, we’re training our minds to notice what’s gone well and what we can be grateful for.

Many clients have told me how powerful this simple practice has been. They’ve often commented on how different it feels from journaling they’ve been encouraged to do in other therapies. Instead of dwelling on problems, it helps them move forward, build resilience, and take positive steps towards the future.

✨ What has been good about your day today?

**I is for Imagination 🧠✨**

Did you know that your brain can’t always tell the difference between imagination and reality?

When we repeatedly imagine things going wrong, our brain responds as if those events are actually happening. This can trigger stress and anxiety, adding more to our “stress bucket.”

On the other hand, when we imagine things going well, our brain experiences the benefits of those positive thoughts too. Visualising success, confidence, and positive outcomes can boost our mood, build motivation, and help us feel more in control. Practising this positive thinking creates new positive neural pathways. The more we do this, the stronger and more automatic these pathways can become.

What positive outcome could you imagine for yourself today? 💭🌟

**H is for Hypnobirthing**

Hypnobirthing helps expectant parents feel calmer, more confident, and better prepared for birth by using relaxation, positive visualisation, and focused breathing techniques.

When we understand how the mind and body work together, we can reduce fear and anxiety, allowing the brain to access its natural ability to stay calm and in control during important life events.

✨ Benefits of hypnobirthing may include:
• Increased confidence around birth
• Reduced stress and anxiety
• Improved relaxation and sleep
• A more positive birth experience

By focusing on what we want to achieve rather than what we fear, we can create positive expectations and build resilience, whether preparing for birth or navigating everyday life.
