You don't have to be fit to come to Pilates and you don't have to be flexible to come to Yoga.

I hear it a lot, it's a bit like saying you need to get clean before having a shower. Which is bloody daft.

Classes are there to help you move a little easier, feel a little stronger and become more confident in your own body. Everyone starts somewhere, including me.

My little studio has students in their 30s through to their 70s, I've got people managing aches and pains, and people who simply want to keep doing the things they love for as long as possible.

You don't have to keep up with anyone else, you just turn up as you are.

‘Tight’ doesn't always mean you need stretching.

Often, muscles feel tight because they're working hard to protect an area that feels vulnerable and overworked.

Sometimes the answer is rest, or to focus on strength and mobility, rather than push harder.

Sometimes the answer lies in supporting your nervous system in finding balance.

The good news is, your body is clever and it wants to find equilibrium, to heal, to calm and restore itself.

Take a moment to check in, what does your body actually 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙, what’s being communicated?

And more importantly, are you listening.

More than a little underwhelmed by the cauliflower we bought from Lidl yesterday!! Hidden with layers and layers of leaves I had no idea it was quite THAT dinky!

Now don’t get me wrong, small can be good! I mean the studio is small, and a small space becomes intimate, personal and meaningful with class size limited to 4-5. Nourishing in all the right ways x

Just off Park Avenue North!

Very close to the Abington Health Complex, the Chestnut Road Studio is a dinky little space, where small groups gather on a regular basis to create shapes with their bodies, whilst lying on mats, learning how to use (or sometimes, how not to use) muscles they may never have known they had, or didn't have, as the case may be.

So whilst this is not how Balanced Body would have described it when I did my classical training over a decade ago, but at the same time, strangely accurate.

The May schedule is attached, an absolute faff to create but also pretty useful. Especially if you're deciding between the 5 class pack or unlimited.
