There is no greater compliment than hearing from the families of the people we support. 🥰

We’re incredibly proud of the environment we’ve created here at Sunshine Farm, but hearing directly from our clients’ parents about the difference it makes to their loved ones means more to us than we can put into words.

This week we’ve been putting our very own homegrown courgettes to good use! 🌱

Our clients helped turn the courgettes we’ve grown here at Sunshine Farm into delicious vegetable puffs — and they went down an absolute treat! 😋

There’s something extra special about growing your own food, harvesting it and then turning it into something delicious to enjoy together. 🌱👩‍🍳🥒

Today has been a 35°C scorcher at Sunshine Farm ☀️🥵

The heat can be extremely tough on our animals, so our staff team and clients have been keeping a very close eye on them throughout the day — constantly changing their water, checking their drinking stations, and making sure they’re comfortable and coping with the heat. 💦🐴🐐🐑🐔🦆

Their welfare is very important to us, and on days like today it’s even more important that they have plenty of fresh, clean water and regular checks. ❤️

It’s been a hot one, but our animals are being very well looked after! 🥰☀️💦

We for one, will welcome the rain ☔️☔️☔️☔️

🐴🐐🐑🐓 The Animals of Sunshine Farm 🐓🐑🐐🐴

Our animals are such a special part of life at Sunshine Farm. ❤️

Although we are a day centre for adults with learning disabilities, our sessions are about so much more than activities. We give the people we support opportunities to learn, grow in confidence and develop real-life skills — and caring for our animals plays a huge part in that.

Over the years, our little menagerie has included pigs, horses, ponies, sheep, goats, chickens, peafowl, ducks, geese and many other wonderful characters. 🥰

Our clients help feed and water them, clean their homes, groom them, collect eggs and make sure they are happy and well cared for.

Through doing this, they learn responsibility, patience, kindness and empathy. They experience the wonderful feeling of knowing that another living being depends on them.

And there is something incredibly special about seeing someone who needs support themselves becoming a carer for another. ❤️

Our animals don’t judge. They simply respond to kindness, patience and love — and in return they give our clients companionship, confidence, purpose and so many happy moments.

Our animals aren’t just part of Sunshine Farm… they are part of the family. 🐴🐐🐑❤️

A very special visitor at Sunshine Farm today! 🖤

We feel incredibly lucky at Sunshine Farm to share our beautiful surroundings with so much amazing wildlife. Alongside our much-loved ponies, Pygmy goats, sheep, ducks, chickens and our handsome cockerel Big Fred, we’re also home to some wonderful wild neighbours.

Today we were treated to the sight of this beautiful little mole, busily exploring around the sheep paddock. We’re also fortunate to regularly spot foxes, badgers, squirrels, rabbits, owls, red kites and so many other fascinating creatures that make Sunshine Farm such a special place.

Spending time in nature and seeing wildlife up close is something our adults at the day centre really enjoy, and moments like these remind us just how privileged we are to care for and share this wonderful environment every day. 🌿🦊🦉🐿️🦡🐴🐐🐑

We hope you enjoy meeting our tiny visitor as much as we did! 💚
