From training with Able2B to becoming one of just three national finalists 🏆

Years ago, James joined Able2B as a client. Through determination, resilience, and overcoming so much along the way, he grew in confidence and skills before eventually progressing into a trainer himself.

Back in February, James was shortlisted for the Impact Through Learning Award at the Lifetime Learning Awards, an incredible achievement.

Able2B has been striving to use the national apprenticeship scheme to open opportunities for those told paid work would not be possible for them. James’ story is inspiring success of how small goals can lead to big things and that individuals can thrive in a non traditional environment of education and progression as long as the right support and experience is there to manage the challenges not just for the individual but for the employer too.

For James Harwood, completing his Level 2 Coaching apprenticeship has been about far more than learning new skills - it’s been about building independence, overcoming challenges, and believing in himself.

From improving his anxiety to discovering a passion for helping others through fitness and coaching, his journey has transformed the way he sees his future.

Now working as a Gym Assistant at Able2B, James hopes to inspire others with learning disabilities to believe in what they can achieve too.

His story is a powerful reminder that with support, determination, and opportunity, people can achieve more than they ever imagined.
