I have been sitting and reflecting on last week’s Body of Resonance practice.
There is something quite beautiful about these extended gatherings ~ coming together to practise, to listen, to move, to make sound, and to simply be.
At times, we are completely immersed in our own experience of breath, movement and sound. At other times, there is an awareness of the space we are all part of, together.
And underneath it all, perhaps, is something that is so mutual…
A longing.
A longing for connection. For peace. For aliveness. For that felt sense of being at home in ourselves and in our mutual relationship with life itself.
I think this is part of what makes these practices so special. We don’t necessarily need to name or understand what we are longing for. We can simply create the conditions to feel it, to remember it, even if only for a brief moment ~ to taste that belonging.
After the practice, I invited those who came along to share how they had been moved →→→
“I was moved from feeling tired to completely peaceful.”
“I was moved from joyful to ecstatic.”
“I was moved from being in pain to feeling peace and clarity.”
“I was moved from feeling heavy, tired, to feeling peaceful and expansive.”
“I was moved from feeling good and quite energised to feeling even better, but calm, peaceful and joyful.”
“I was moved from feeling plaintive to sensing sweetness.”
“I was moved from feeling glad just to be able to make the practice to feeling restored, loved and alive.”
And one participant shared:
“I went into a very deep breathing state when lying down, a bit like when you are dropping off to sleep, which is unusual for me as a shallow breather. You could feel that everyone in the space was just soaking everything up!”
Another shared that she slept well for the first time in at least a week and that her migraine was “running for the hills”!
Just a few little glimpses into the many ways we can be moved when we give ourselves the time and space.
I am looking forward to these next few months, listening a little more closely ~ to ourselves, to one another, and to noticing what is already here, closer than the breath you just took.
