π€²π NATIONAL HAND HEALTH MONTH β SEPTEMBER ππ€²
1 September β 30 September
Do you have a physical job where you use your hands, wrists and arms all day?
Whether you work in construction, gardening, hairdressing, beauty, massage, cleaning, catering, mechanics, trades or other hands-on jobs, your hands and wrists can experience a lot of repetitive movement and strain.
Taking a few minutes during your working day to gently move and stretch can help keep your hands, wrists and forearms feeling more comfortable and mobile. πΏ
π€² Try these simple stretches:
β¨ Finger Stretch
Open your hand wide, gently spread your fingers, then relax. Repeat several times.
β¨ Wrist Stretch
Extend one arm in front of you with your palm facing up. With your other hand, gently pull the fingers down towards the floor. Hold for 15β20 seconds, then swap sides.
β¨ Reverse Wrist Stretch
Extend your arm with your palm facing down. Gently draw your fingers back towards you. Hold for 15β20 seconds.
β¨ Wrist Circles
Make slow, gentle circles with your wrists in both directions to encourage movement.
β¨ Shake & Relax
Gently shake out your hands and relax your fingers and forearms after repetitive tasks.
π‘ TOP TIP: Don't force a stretch or stretch through pain. Keep movements gentle and controlled, and take regular breaks where possible.
