What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis occurs when cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. These cells can grow and change in response to hormones in the menstrual cycle, this can cause inflammation, pain and scar tissue.

Endometriosis affects 10% of women and those assigned female at birth from puberty to menopause, although the impact may be felt for life. In the UK, that’s over 1.5 million from all races and ethnicities living with the condition.

More information on Endometriosis and the support available can be found at https://www.endometriosis-uk.org/

What is "CPR"?

CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It can help save a life during cardiac arrest, when the heart stops beating or beats too ineffectively to circulate blood to the brain and other vital organs.

All of the Cavell Healthcare staff learn how to perform CPR within their Basic Life Support/Emergency First Aid training.

If you, a friend, family member or someone you know are interested in completing a certified course in Basic Life Support/Emergency First Aid please pop us a message to find out more details and how to book. 🫀

It has been a busy week of training for Cavell Healthcare!

Have you ever been in a hoist? We believe one of the best ways to try to understand how our clients feel when being hoisted, is to give it a try ourselves!

We have had a great mix this week of existing staff refreshing their learning, and soon-to-be staff members learning important skills and knowledge to be able to help them ahead of their new journey in care.

We offer a range of training from all three of our branches, Norwich, Lowestoft and Cromer.

If you are looking for a change of career, please call us on 01603 340 044 to discuss further, or pop us a message with your contact details and we will be in touch.

This week is Cervical Cancer Prevention week!

We want to ensure all people with a cervix know how cervical cancer can be prevented, this means:

- Attending cervical screening when invited, often called a "smear test" this test is to check the health of the cervix and help prevent cervical cancer.
- Knowing the symptoms of cervical cancer and seeking medical advise.
- Taking up the HPV vaccination (aged 11-18).
- Knowing where to find support and other information.

Why is attending your cervical screening important?

Cervical screening checks the health of your cervix and helps find any abnormal changes before they can turn into cancer.

More information can be found on the NHS website: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/cervical-screening/why-its-important/

Today is World Braille Day!

Braille is a tactile code that enables blind and partially sighted people to read by touch. Braille is a great way for blind people to read and write, the characters are designed to be read by fingers rather than eyes.

Today we celebrate the awareness and importance of Braille as a means of communication for blind and visually impaired people.
