Sometimes, the safest treatment is NO treatment.
At The One Laser Clinic, every treatment begins with assessing whether the skin is in a suitable condition to be treated. Laser is a medical-grade technology, and safe treatment relies on appropriate patient selection, preparation and aftercare.
There are circumstances where treatment may need to be postponed, including:
☀️ Recent sun exposure or active tanning — increased melanin can increase the risk of unwanted epidermal heating and pigmentary changes.
🪒 Unshaven areas — excessive hair above the skin can absorb laser energy at the surface, increasing unnecessary heat and discomfort.
🩹 Broken, irritated or inflamed skin — compromised skin may have a greater risk of adverse reactions.
🧴 Recent use of certain active skincare ingredients or treatments — these may increase skin sensitivity and require an appropriate treatment interval.
💊 Photosensitising medication — medication history is reviewed as part of your consultation to determine suitability.
We also consider skin type, pigmentation, medical history, current medications, previous treatments and individual risk factors before proceeding.
Sometimes, the safest clinical decision is to delay treatment. Your safety will always take priority over completing a treatment when your skin is not suitable.
That’s our standard at The One Laser Clinic.
