Rushcliffe Social Prescribing

Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Service works with individuals to help to empower them to make a change

Social Prescribing enables GP practices to refer patients to a Link Worker, exploring solutions around non-medical issues that underpin their health conditions and subsequent presentation at surgeries. Rushcliffe PCN Social Prescribing Service offers the opportunity for patients to work with a Social Prescribing Link Worker. The service looks to enable patients to better manage their own health, e

mpowering those with social, emotional or practical needs to develop wellbeing solutions. Part of this will be working closely with community resources and making connections as these resources begin to emerge post lockdown. Where appropriate, there is also the offer of collaboratively producing a personalised, goals-based plan aimed at supporting and motivating individuals around behaviour change.

Friday wellbeing time...

Even the most motivated people have days where they don't want to show up. The Olympic athlete is not always keen to get to the gym. The 'A' grade student isn't always rushing to complete their homework.

That's where discipline comes in... when you are trying to make a change, and "just don't feel like it today," tap into your self-discipline and just do it..... and remember, motivation is created by action!

If you are over 18, and registered with a Rushcliffe GP, come and have a chat with us at our Social Prescribing Community Hub every Monday morning (during term time), 10-12. We're at the Young People's Centre next to West Bridgford library. We re-open on Monday 8th June.

Friday wellbeing time...

At Rushcliffe Social Prescribing we embrace all models of wellbeing, and strive to keep ourselves well-informed across a wide range of subjects.

It's often said that anxiety and low mood can be eased by getting the thoughts out of your head. This could involve talking to someone or writing them down... journalling is clinically evidenced to provide relief.

If you are over 18, and registered with a Rushcliffe GP, come and have a chat with us at our Social Prescribing Community Hub every Monday morning (during term time), 10-12. We're at the Young People's Centre next to West Bridgford library. We re-open on Monday 8th June.

This week at the hub’s cook & connect session we made dhal with easy garlic and coriander naan🧑‍🍳
Dhal is an extremely cost efficient and healthy meal that can be batch cooked and eaten on repeat because it’s just that delicious! 😋
It is made with lentils which are high in fibre which aids digestion and keeps you full for longer.

If you’d like to come and give one of our cooking sessions a go, check out our eventbrite page here: https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/cook-connect-4294253

Lindsay Tempest ArtWhat a wonderful way to spend a Monday! 🎨🖊️🐦

I was lucky enough to attend the fantastic Art for Journaling session at the Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Community Hub, led by the incredibly talented Lindsay Tempest Art - Art Journaling.

Today we embarked on our art journaling journey by reflecting on our day and sketching events in biro before moving on to coloured pencils, using a limited colour palette to create beautiful representations of special birds. At this time of year they’re full of life and entertainment, busying about all around us – the perfect inspiration! 🐦✨

The session was such a lovely reminder of how creativity can help us slow down, reflect and connect with ourselves and others.

If you’d like to give art journaling a try, why not sign up via the Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/art-journaling-for-wellbeing-4828336

And excitingly, Lindsay even has a solo exhibition coming up at West Bridgford Library — right next door to the Hub, the perfect location! The exhibition runs from 5th August – 5th September, so do go along and support amazing local talent 🎨💛

Journaling is also proven to have many positive benefits for both mental and physical health. This article from Talkspace (https://www.talkspace.com/blog/journaling-for-mental-health/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) explains more about the science behind journaling and wellbeing — definitely worth a read and something to ponder 💙
