I love it this time of year, all honey is now jarred and we have an amazing variety of colours and flavours. Our bees 🐝 have done great work for us all to enjoy 🍯

The bees are loving flowering ivy. Cropping the honey at end of the season is a very delicate balance. If you leave too much and the weather is good so the bees can collect a lot of ivy then they may run out of space and trigger swarming insects so late in the season which could be catastrophic for the hive survival. If you take too much and the weather is not good the bees may not manage to fill their pantry and may starve if the winter is longer. The balance is very delicate but survival of the colony is always the first priority for us here at Magnolia Cottage 😁🐝🤩

I know many of you tried to visit us for some honey goodness in the last couple of weeks. We were on a much needed holiday however.

Honey bee colonies available. If anyone is interested in starting up beekeeping or just getting some more colonies, I have 2 starter hive colonies available for sale. They are on 6 frames, ( 3-4 brood, 1 stores and 1 pollen) with an overwintered marked 2025 queen. They were made from my own colonies which I have been breeding selectively for the past 8 years. They need transferring to full size hives. If anyone is interested please message me directly.
