Your job and the success of your business has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with your worth.
When you own a small business it’s your baby. You pour your heart and soul into it. It’s really easy to intertwine yourself with it. Especially if you are customer facing/ service based.
I used to see my business as ME. Jess. Not Luna, JESS. So if the business wasn’t busy- it must have meant people don’t like me. Or I wasn’t good enough, or I was failing.
It’s taking me years to try and seperate the two, to see that I am my own person away from the business.
There’s one thing I know about business and that is that it so h certain, so up and down. High and lows, quiet and busy times. And if you tie the way you feel about yourself to how successful your business is, it’s going to feel very unstable.
And right now - It feels like a lot of us are in a quieter patch!
People aren’t spending the same. The economy is doing whatever the f**k it’s doing. Algorithms are harder than ever to keep up with. There are so many factors at play that have nothing to do with how good you are at what you do!
Not everyone talks about it… but a lot of people are feeling it.
I’m feeling it too.
And yeah, it’s scary. I’m not going to pretend it’s not.
But a quiet week or month doesn’t mean your business is failing.
And it definitely doesn’t mean YOU are.
So if you’re in it right now - please don’t take it personally 🥺❤️
And if you do feel like supporting a small business at the moment, whether that’s booking in, sharing their work, or even just engaging with their posts… it genuinely means more than you probably realise ✨
Small business owners - I see you, I feel you, but we’re not going down that easy!
