FOOD SENSITIVITY TESTING....NOW available at Life Rituals

WHAT IS FOOD SENSITIVITY/INTOLERANCE?

Food sensitivity can result from your body reacting badly to certain foods. Often the foods we include regularly in our diet or the foods we crave may be the ones causing us a problem.
Research has shown that food sensitivity can be linked to IgG antibodies produced when these ‘problem’ foods are eaten. Normally these antibodies do not have any ill-effects, but if the immune or digestive system are not working optimally, their presence may provoke a wide range of symptoms.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU HAVE A FOOD SENSITIVITY/INTOLERANCE?

Ask yourself if you have any of the following chronic unpleasant symptoms: dark circles or puffiness under the eyes; fluid; retention; dermatitis; sinus congestion; rhinitis; insomnia; fatigue;
abdominal pain; joint inflammation; fibromyalgia; inability to lose weight; indigestion; IBS; headache; chronic ear infections; asthma; eczema; mood swings; poor memory; anxiety or depression; palpitations.

WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT?

Book now for a Food Intolerance test with Medical Herbalist Ginny Kemp. Many people experience an improvement in symptoms and health after changing their diet based on their Food Intolerance test results. Like any diagnostic test, this test will only produce meaningful results if you are experiencing symptoms. Some symptoms of food sensitivity could be due to other health issues and many need checking with your GP, Ginny will discuss this with you at your appointment.

Symptoms can persist for several days after eating a food, or longer, making it difficult to identify which foods your body is struggling to deal with. A food intolerance test helps to identify these ‘problem’ foods by detecting food-specific IgG antibodies in your blood. Using these results as a guide, you can then adjust and plan your new diet.

HOW LONG WILL I NEED TO WAIT FOR THE RESULTS ?

A pin prick blood test is carried out in clinic with immediate results given during an hour long consultation with Ginny where your gut health and diet are discussed in detail along with your wider health, medical history and any medications/supplements you may be taking.

Together with your test results at the end of the consultation you'll receive tailored health advice to your own needs regarding diet, lifestyle and supplements. A bespoke Herbal Medicine to optimise digestion can be provided if desired.

HOW MUCH IS THE TEST?

The cost of the consultation and test is £140. The advised mid-point follow up appointment after 6 weeks is £50 where your progress will be reviewed to ensure that you are eating well and feeling better. At this point, reintroduction of foods will be discussed. The test is suitable from Age 2 upwards.

Burnout doesn't heal on the same timeline it took to build. That mismatch is why so many people feel confused when a vacation doesn't fix what took years to create.

Your mind and body built patterns of chronic stress over months or years of running on empty. Undoing that takes real time, often one to three years of consistent repair, not a weekend of rest.

That's just an honest timeline. Rest still matters. A bubble bath still matters. They just aren't the whole recovery. They're one piece of a much longer process your mind needs to fully reset.

Talking to one of our professional counsellors helps to facilitate the understanding of the thinking and behavioural patterns that lead to burnout. In this way counselling helps to know yourself better to support meaningful change.

Our counsellor’s Jonathan, Nikki and Leigh have an integrated, person-centred approach helps clients make meaningful changes and build resilience — working at a pace that feels safe and empowering.

👉Our counsellors welcome an initial complimentary call or meeting to explore how therapy might support you.

Yarrow stops bleeding.

Press fresh leaf on a wound. Bleeding slows within minutes. Known to battlefield medics from ancient Troy to the American Civil War.

Folk names confirm it: Staunch W**d, Nosebleed, Soldier's Woundwort, Carpenter's W**d.

But drink hot yarrow tea during a fever. Within twenty minutes, you're sweating.

Yarrow opens pores. Moves blood to periphery. Induces perspiration.

Same plant. Opposite actions.

Stops bleeding and makes you sweat. Contracts and releases. Closes and opens.

How is this consistent?

The word is amphoteric. A substance that regulates rather than pushes one direction.

Yarrow reads the situation and responds accordingly.

Where blood flow is excessive (wound, nosebleed, heavy period), its astringent action brings it toward regulation.

Where blood flow is misdirected (pooled in core during fever while skin is hot and dry), its diaphoretic action redistributes it outward. Opens periphery. Allows heat to escape through sweat.

Yarrow doesn't counteract fever. It supports the body's attempt to complete the fever process.

Hot tea accompanies it to natural resolution. Suppressing with ibuprofen interrupts mid-arc.

Here's the precision: Most wound herbs work on capillaries, maybe arterioles. Yarrow works on all three levels—including arterial bleeding.

Stories exist of chainsaw wounds where yarrow staunched arterial flow until medical care arrived. Not folk exaggeration. Documented haemostatic action.

The puzzle isn't actually a puzzle once you understand yarrow is doing neither stopping nor opening. It's reading blood distribution and normalizing it.

The plant's action depends on the pattern it meets, not a fixed pharmacological effect.

That understanding is one of the most important shifts in herbal thinking.

Yarrow grows at the edge of almost every British path. Few plants more continuously used throughout history. Few more casually overlooked now.

In traditional Chinese Medicine there is a two hour period when the Qi is at its peak in individual organ and meridian systems during the 24-hour cycle.

Why does this matter ?

Understanding this cycle can help us:

💚Adapt lifestyle habits, including sleep, meals, and daily activities

💚Identify potential imbalances through clues such as nighttime waking, fatigue, or digestive issues

💚Optimize acupuncture treatments according to the time of day

The Chinese Medicine Qi Cycle Clock reminds us that the body isn’t random. It follows rhythms, and when we learn to listen to them, and symptoms of disharmony they offer valuable insights into our health - so we can respond to our unique rhythms.

If you are interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture give us a call - with 3 acupuncturists at the practice we have the week covered.

You can find further info about our acupuncturists Jo, Aelish and Kerry on our website www.liferituals.co.uk.

Choosing a healthcare practitioner is an important decision, and qualifications matter. At Life Rituals our Acupuncturists are members of the British Acupuncture Council and are highly trained professionals.

In England, registered Chinese Medicine practitioners - Acupuncturists must complete extensive university level education, including more than 1,000 hours of supervised clinical training, before they are eligible to practise.

British Acupuncture Council (BAC) members are required to meet national professional standards, maintain ongoing professional development and adhere to strict codes of ethics and professional conduct.

With a network of more than 2,000 practitioners across England, the BAC represents one of the country's largest communities of qualified Chinese Medicine professionals.

When looking for an acupuncturist or Chinese Medicine practitioner, the BAC is a simple way to identify a practitioner committed to professional standards, patient safety and quality care.

Therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. It is not only about working through difficulties it is also about discovering what helps you feel fulfilled, energised, and truly like yourself.

Through therapy, many people begin to understand their emotions, values, and needs more clearly. This self-awareness can help you recognise the activities, relationships, and experiences that bring a sense of purpose and joy. Sometimes, therapy helps us notice the parts of life that make us feel most alive the moments we may have overlooked while simply getting through the day.

Our team of counsellors Nikki, Jonathan, and Leigh are available throughout the week.

A complimentary 15-minute phone consultation is available for new clients to discuss your needs and ensure the most appropriate care.

Helping you to navigate PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) through specialist counselling and support.

“I received my PMDD diagnosis in 2023 after years of difficulties. During that time, I often felt that the PMDD support I needed simply wasn’t available.

Repeated cycles of burning everything to the ground, including my sense of self, relationships, work, and hobbies, left me without a stable foundation from which to navigate daily life. Each month, I had to take stock of what remained and what needed repairing. This process became exhausting, and I dreaded it deep in the pit of my stomach.

Anxiety, panic, guilt, confusion, sadness, brain fog, imposter syndrome, and paranoia shaped my life in different ways throughout the month. These experiences affected me during the height of PMDD symptoms and while I tried to rebuild afterwards.”

Through this lived experience I now offer specialist PMDD counselling sessions

During these sessions, I invite you to take up space and explore your whole experience. Together, we can explore how PMDD affects your life and develop tools and strategies that help you navigate both your diagnosis and the challenges that come with it.

We will explore PMDD as both a whole-life experience and a changing monthly cycle. Together, we can identify patterns, reassess what is helping, and adapt strategies as your needs evolve. We will approach this work with compassion, curiosity, and flexibility.

Supporting people with PMDD is very close to my heart. My hope is that our work together helps you develop a stronger sense of steadiness in who you are and what you are navigating.

If you'd like to learn more about me, my approach, or what to expect from our sessions together, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 01572 868579 with any questions.
