I actually think one of the hardest things about facial rejuvenation is knowing when to stop.
Because there will always be something else you could tweak.
That's the truth nobody talks about. You address one insecurity… then your eye notices another.

Which is why always insist on a review after any facial rejuvenation treatment.

I think emotional awareness is so important in this industry.
I've had moments myself where I've thought: "Am I doing this because I genuinely want to… or because I've stared at myself too much lately?"
There's a difference.
And sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is leave your face alone for a bit and go outside instead. Just don’t forget the sunscreen.

Sometimes the most useful thing I can say in a consultation is: not today.
Not never. Not no.
Just — not today.
Maybe something hasn't settled from a previous treatment. Maybe something feels slightly off that I want to monitor before proceeding. Maybe someone is going through something and the timing just isn't right.
It's not the answer people always expect.
But it's the one that tends to give the best results long term.
Because good aesthetic practice isn't about maximising what happens in each appointment.
It's about what things look like in six months. A year. Two years.
And that sometimes means the most valuable thing I can offer is patience.
Not because I'm being cautious for its own sake.
But because I've seen what happens when you don't.

47 today.
The age some people have their first heart scare.
The age most women and men I see in clinic have already lost ten years of healthspan and don’t know it.
The age the research says everything starts to compound — for better, or for worse.
So today, I’m starting a three-year project.
To build the clinic I’d want my own family to walk into.
To prove that the way we age is a choice, not a fate.
And to give the people I love — and the people who love them — somewhere serious to begin.
If you’ve been quietly worrying about someone, this is for you.
Day one.

I don't think enough people talk about how emotional appearance changes can feel.
Especially when it happens gradually.
You don't notice ageing overnight.
You notice it in moments.
A photo somebody else took.
Seeing yourself in bright sunlight.
Looking tired after a difficult year.
And sometimes it catches you off guard because mentally you still feel much younger than the reflection staring back at you.
I think that disconnect is what we struggle with most.

I've become far less interested in looking younger…
and far more interested in looking healthy.
That shift changes your entire mindset around aesthetics.
Healthy skin.
Rested appearance.
Softness.
Expression.
That's what people are usually responding positively to anyway.
And once you reframe it that way — the whole thing becomes a lot calmer.
Less chasing. More maintaining.
Less about turning back time and more about feeling well in the time you're actually in.

I used to think confidence came first.
Now I think sometimes confidence comes after you stop obsessing over every tiny flaw.
I remember being younger and genuinely believing everybody noticed the same things I noticed about myself.
My skin.
My under eyes. One eye seems bigger than the other.

The way my face changed when I smiled.
Photos from certain angles.
Meanwhile most people were too busy worrying about themselves.
It's strange how much mental energy we spend monitoring our appearance.

Checking mirrors.
Checking photos.
Checking Zoom video calls.
Checking reflections in shop windows.

And social media has made it worse because now we're comparing ourselves to people who don't even look like themselves.
I've had patients sit in front of me apologising for completely normal features.
Normal lines.
Normal movement.
Normal ageing.
And honestly? I think some of us have forgotten what a real face actually looks like anymore. If you want to discover what natural rejuvenation looks like DM us NATURAL

There's a pattern I notice in clinic that I haven't been able to stop thinking about.
Women who have spent years — sometimes decades — being the person everyone else relies on, finally doing something for themselves.
And then apologising for it the moment they walk in.
The guilt is so ingrained it comes out automatically.
"I know it's silly."
"I shouldn't be spending money on me."
"My husband thinks I'm being ridiculous."
And underneath all of it is a woman who has been functioning at full capacity for everyone around her, and has simply stopped putting herself on the list.
I don't think this is vanity. I don't think it's superficiality.
I think it's what happens when you spend long enough treating yourself as a resource rather than a person.
Wanting to feel good — wanting to feel like yourself — isn't self-indulgent.
It's just your turn.

The most important part of a consultation happens before anyone mentions treatment.
It's the bit where I work out what's actually going on.
Not just what someone has noticed about their face. But what's underneath that.
How long they've been thinking about it. What's changed recently. Whether they're in a good headspace to make a decision. Whether what they're asking for is what they actually need.
None of that shows up on a treatment menu.
But all of it affects the outcome.
The best results I see come from consultations where we slow down enough to have the real conversation. Not the surface one.
Because usually what someone says they want and what they actually need are close — but not identical.
And the gap between those two things is where most of the work is.
