💡 More exciting, hands-on Science for year 6:
The goal was for the children to build their own working circuits, using just 2 wires, a cell and a bulb 💡...nailed it!
We then challenged the children to add another bulb in order to discover what happened to the brightness of both bulbs...the results were illuminating 💡🔋⚡️

Take a look at Year 5’s wonderful learning from their last two science lessons where they have been exploring life cycles! 🐞🐸🐥👦🏽

They compared the life cycles of insects and amphibians, before comparing mammal and bird life cycles.

💡 Did you know? Two mammals actually lay eggs! 🥚 The platypus and echidna are mammals because they have fur and produce milk for their young.

Well done year 5 scientists! 🧑‍🔬

🦴 This week in year 3 we have been learning all about different types of Skeleton💀 Ask your child what vertebrates and invertebrates are ?

We have also been learning all about addition and subtraction in Maths➕➖, we have even started to exchange across a 10 today 🔟 ask your child to show you how to work out 25+ 7 using a place value chart 🧮

It’s been a week since we paused to reflect on our Mental Health for ‘Hello Yellow Day’ 💛

To celebrate Mental Health Awareness week, children across school dressed in yellow and spent time discussing how we can keep ourselves mentally healthy.

In our EYFS and KS1 assembly, the children discussed looking after their minds just as they would the rest of their bodies. We were bursting with knowledge! 🤩

🌍🎉 CULTURAL CATWALK – HERITAGE WEEK! 🎉🌍

On Thursday 22nd October, we are inviting all children (and staff!) to come to school wearing an outfit that represents their heritage, culture and identity. ❤️💛💚

As part of our learning during Black History Month, we will be celebrating the wonderful diversity within our school community with a special Cultural Catwalk in both assemblies! 🌎✨

👗🧥 This could be traditional clothing, a national football shirt, colours, patterns or an outfit that reflects your family’s heritage and culture.

✨What a Week: Year 6! ✨

🖊️ In English we have been inspired by our text ‘There’s a boy in the girls’ bathroom’ by Louis Sachar. We have planned and written our own inspired stories using colons, semi-colons and a range of clauses.

📖 In reading, we have been reading another text by Louis Sachar- Holes. We have debated different punishments, compared characters and evidenced all of our impressions with quotes from the text. We have also enjoyed using Reading Plus to help improve our reading speeds. We are loving the leader board of words read across the class.

🧮 In maths, our work on multiplication and division has continued and I was the proudest teacher when the class showed incredible understanding of square and cube numbers!

✨What a Week: Year 5! ✨

Year 5 have been working hard across all areas of our learning and have lots to celebrate. 👏

📚 English
We have worked incredibly hard completing our independent writes for our own versions of The Boy at the Back of the Class. We have been focusing on our handwriting, presentation and, most importantly, taking pride in the work we produce. ✍️✨

🔢 Maths
We completed our post-unit quiz for Place Value, showing off everything we have learned. We are now ready to begin our next unit on Addition and Subtraction on Monday!

🌍 Geography
We have been exploring landmarks from different countries across Europe and sorting them into human and physical features. We have enjoyed discovering some amazing places!

🎵 Music
Our excitement is building as we learn songs ready for our Young Voices trip in January. We’re looking forward to sounding fantastic together! 🎤

🏃 PE
We have been working hard to improve our fitness with Coach Alex from Active Oldham. We’ve been challenging ourselves and developing our stamina and fitness levels. 💪

🇪🇸 This week in Spanish, we have been learning the names of different sports. We used our knowledge to play fun matching games, carefully matching pictures to the correct Spanish words.

It was wonderful to see everyone working together, supporting one another and using their growing Spanish vocabulary with confidence. We had great fun while learning and showed fantastic teamwork throughout the lesson.
