Back day with 🏋️‍♂️

Solid session with .flynn99 — the guy is an absolute beast 💪

If anyone is looking for personal training in the Shaw/Royton area, he’s your man 🙌

It’s been great getting back to my roots with strength and hypertrophy training after trying the hybrid athlete route back in January.

One thing I’ve noticed is that I’ve managed to maintain my weight while my strength numbers have gone through the roof.

The biggest change for me has been training with different people. Having good training partners pushes you that extra 5% and helps you get more out of every session.

Understanding Injury: It’s More Complex Than You Think

We discuss how injuries aren’t caused by just one factor. We explore the biosocial model, which shows that pain and injury result from three interconnected areas: biological factors (like tissue overwork and degeneration), psychological factors (like stress affecting pain perception), and social factors (like pressure from coaches or financial concerns). We explain how things like poor sleep, under-fueling, dehydration, and work stress all contribute to injury, and we invite you to come chat with us at Forge if you want to understand why you’re experiencing pain or recurring injuries.

Pushing yourself to your limits is key 🔑

Intensity is one of the biggest drivers of adaptation. The harder you can push with purpose, the more you challenge your body to grow, perform, and improve.

To increase intensity, you need two things: a strong mental state and the right fuel behind you.

For this heavy upper session, I used to fuel my workout.

Who Am I?

I’m Becky Stone, a physiotherapist graduating in June 2026 with a background in both healthcare and sport.

Before training as a physiotherapist, I spent 5 years working in the fitness industry, helping people improve performance, build confidence, and stay active. That experience continues to shape the way I approach rehabilitation today, not just reducing pain, but helping people move better, feel stronger, and improve long term function and quality of life.

Alongside my physiotherapy training, I’ve gained experience across a wide range of clinical settings including:

• MSK outpatients
• Community rehabilitation & falls services
• Inpatient rehabilitation wards
• Community rehabilitation teams
• Group rehabilitation classes

I’ve worked with people managing everything from acute injuries to chronic and long-term conditions, including complex co-morbidities, post-operative rehabilitation, reduced mobility, balance issues, and deconditioning.

I’ve also completed sports placements with:
• Manchester United Women’s First Team
• Lymm Rugby Club

And I’ll be continuing with Lymm Rugby Club for the upcoming season.

What I do 👇

✔️ Assessment & rehabilitation
✔️ Support with injury recovery, chronic pain & long-term conditions
✔️ Post-operative rehabilitation & return to function
✔️ Rehabilitation for complex conditions & co-morbidities
✔️ Hands-on manual therapy & sports massage
✔️ Exercise therapy for strength, mobility & confidence
✔️ Return-to-sport rehabilitation & injury prevention
✔️ Falls prevention, balance & functional rehab

Every injury, condition, and person is different, which is why I take an individual approach to rehabilitation and recovery.

Whether you’re recovering after surgery, managing a long-term condition, returning to sport, getting back into the gym, or simply wanting to move with more confidence and less pain, the goal is always the same, helping you feel stronger, more capable, and more confident in your body.

WHO AM I? 👋

My name is Joshua Marples, a Sports Rehabilitation graduate this summer (2026) and I’m excited to soon be joining the team at Forge Injury Performance.

Over the last few years I’ve built experience across elite sport, clinical rehab and athlete care, completing 700+ hours of professional placement experience including:

⚽ Stockport County FC
⚾ Detroit Tigers MLB Organisation
🏥 University of Salford Injury Clinic
🏉 Oldham St Annes RLFC
🏃 Volunteer therapist for The Christie Charity supporting Manchester Marathon runners

I’ve also spent the last year building experience through self-employment, helping people recover from injury, reduce pain and improve performance.

These opportunities have helped me develop strong skills in:
✔️ Injury assessment
✔️ Rehabilitation programming
✔️ Hands-on treatment
✔️ Athlete care & return to sport

Additional qualifications include:
🚑 Level 3 FREC
🏥 Level 2 PHICIS
🤕 Sports First Aid
🩹 Sports Taping
🧠 Concussion Guidelines
🫀 Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness

These qualifications allow me to confidently respond to emergency situations, manage acute injuries safely and provide a high standard of care both on and off the field.

WHAT I ACTUALLY DO 👇

☑️ Diagnose & treat injuries
☑️ Neuro-musculoskeletal rehabilitation
☑️ Sports massage & manual therapy
☑️ Injury prevention
☑️ Return to sport rehabilitation

No gimmicks.
No shortcuts.
Just honest guidance and evidence-based rehabilitation.

Sport has always played a huge role in my life. After 4 years of boxing, 4 fights and finishing undefeated, I understand first-hand the physical and mental demands athletes face.

That’s a massive reason why I’m passionate about helping people move better, recover properly and rebuild confidence in their bodies — so they can perform at their best again.

I’m incredibly excited for this next chapter at Forge Injury Performance and looking forward to continuing to learn, grow and help more people.
