๐Ÿ’™ Learning Disability Week 2026 ๐Ÿ’™

A learning disability affects how a person understands and processes information, learns new skills, and manages aspects of everyday life. Every personโ€™s experience is unique, and this week reminds us of the importance of ensuring that everyone is listened to, respected, and supported to achieve their goals.

Learning Disability Week is also a chance to reflect on how we can all be allies. Whether as healthcare professionals, family members, friends, or members of the community, we can support and advocate for people with a learning disability to live healthy, fulfilling lives and access the same opportunities as everyone else.

Together, letโ€™s continue to promote inclusion, challenge barriers, and celebrate the strengths, achievements, and individuality of people with learning disabilities - not just this week, but every day ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

If your child or young person is on the GP Learning Disability Register, theyโ€™re entitled to a free Annual Health Check from age 14.

Itโ€™s a simple yearly review that helps:

โ€ข Spot health issues early
โ€ข Keep them well even when they feel fine
โ€ข Make sure reasonable adjustments are in place

These checks give families time to talk and ask questions.

Contact your GP to book their Annual Health Check.

๐Ÿ’™ DO YOU KNOW?
Annual health checks can make a real difference.
For people on the GP learning disability register, they are:
โœ“ Free for anyone aged 14 and over.
โœ“ A way to spot health issues early before they become serious.
โœ“ Something you can have even when youโ€™re feeling well.
โœ“ A chance to ask for reasonable adjustments so your appointment works for you.

Too often, health concerns can go unnoticed or unspoken. Annual health checks help change that.

Your health matters. Your voice matters. You matter.

๐Ÿ“… Donโ€™t miss your annual health check.
