This is a very personal post from me but feel it needs to be addressed.... My experience of reaching out with one of my post partum experiences with a therapist....I had done 6 sessions and at the last when I plucked up the courage to say how I was feeling this was the therapists response "awk don't be so silly wouldn't you die for her!"
This is the exact words I got...I felt comfortable and safe to eventually say how I was feeling and be 100% truthful- this knocked me back massively and I never spoke of my true feelings again for years- the judgement the humiliation, the guilt, the vulnerability.....looking back I wish I was stronger in myself but being post partum your not -your totally exhausted and existing, even writing this is very vulnerable to admit its not all bliss when your expected to be -thats another issue there is so much judgement to be in a blissful bubble but from my own work I know how much mothers struggle and are struggling but are still met with the narrative that its "supposed to be that way"....no its not and women and mothers are being failed constantly, through their birth experiences, and post partum support, they need their tribe of people to come in and help but the narrative is now to be expected to do it all and not complain.
In my work I listen, there is no judgement, come in raw and with all of your story my place is a place of complete truth where you are held in safety in the embodiment of where you are at, I eventually had this space from my new therapists in my life and will always strive to do this for my clients...men and women.
Women are amazing but they are burning out trying to be and do all things.
Find a safe person/group and reach out, I know Support Together does this for so many of our amazing women in our community so if you feel you are needing support reach out, I have heard amazing stories from many women who have reached out to them.π
