We would like to invite all our lovely members to our AGM on Saturday 13th June at 13:30 in NICVA. All members have been sent invites via email and can attend either in person or via Zoom.

The event runs until 16:30, as after our AGM, there will be a break to socialise with old and new friends, and then a members-only workshop led by Joe McKeown.

Your attendance helps us set the direction of travel for the coming year. In what has been (and continues to be) a period of transformation in response to the changing landscape of yoga in Northern Ireland, your participation is essential to the decision-making process.

This AGM will also be an opportunity to give thanks for the wise stewardship of outgoing committee members: Margaret O’Neill, Eileen Morgan, Maria McCarter, Michael McCann and Bridget Hamill. We have been blessed by their unfailing generosity and love for the Northern Ireland yoga community.

We look forward to seeing you all there !

Yoga is not solely what we practice, but how we practice.

In the Yoga Sutras, the physical practice is presented as sthira sukham āsanam: posture that is steady and easeful. This teaching invites us to look beyond the shape itself and pay attention to the quality of our experience within it.

The physical yoga practice becomes a doorway: a place to study breath, sensation, effort, resistance, and the subtle ways the mind and energy respond.

Can we stay connected to the breath? Can we meet effort without forcing? Can we soften where we are gripping and steady ourselves where we feel scattered?

Over time, “advanced” may begin to look less like reaching the fullest expression of a pose and more like practicing with honesty, steadiness, care, and discernment.

That kind of practice may not always look impressive from the outside, but it can transform the way we move, breathe, and live.

Tag someone who’s redefining what “advanced yoga” looks like on social media.

Curious what this shift can look like over years of practice?

Sarah Ezrin shares a beautiful reflection on the journey from chasing poses to practicing with deeper awareness in “The More I Practice Yoga, the Fewer Poses I Can Do.”

❗️Emergency First Aid for work with Bisp Training❗️

"The best time to learn first aid is before you need it."

As yoga teachers, we hold space for healing, growth, and movement. But are we prepared to hold space for the unexpected?

While we hope we never have to use it, being certified in Emergency First Aid is more than just a box to tick for insurance—it’s a commitment to the safety and well-being of every student who steps onto their mat in your class.

Why get certified?

Confidence in Crisis: Transition from panic to protocol if a student faints, falls, or experiences a medical emergency.

Professional Integrity: Build deeper trust with your community by showing you prioritise their safety as much as their alignment.

Essential Skills: Learn how to handle everything from sprains and fractures to CPR and AED usage.

Don’t wait for an incident to wish you had the training. Let’s keep our studios safe.

Get certified at our upcoming First Aid for Yoga Teachers workshop!

🪻Birth Trauma, Early Development & the Energetic Body🪻

Split into 2 sessions this workshop explores how our earliest experiences can shape the body, nervous system and energetic self across a lifespan.

Session 1 (90 mins) - Darina Patton

Darina Patton is an internationally experienced physiotherapist, birth trauma specialist, and neurodevelopmental therapist whose work bridges science, embodiment, and subtle energy.
In her session she will look at how early life experiences can influence our nervous system, movement patterns and energetic development. She will also offer simple, supportive movements and exercises designed to support resilience, awareness and integration.

Session 2 (60 mins) - Margaret Brand

Margaret Brand is one of the Yoga Fellowship’s first cohort of teachers and a much-loved member of the community, still teaching in her 90s.
Her session will be a gentle and inspiring practice including yogic stretching, mindful breathing and a beautiful stilling relaxation. This session is a unique opportunity to witness a living example of how yoga can support vitality, connection, and ease throughout a lifetime.
