A lot of the time when we reach out to a therapist for some help and support, we're already quite nervous, anxious or stressed. Even wondering where we're going to be sitting or what it's like can cause stress, so I thought I'd pop a photo of my clinic room here, so you can feel reassured. Oh and you get to sit in the comfy chair on the right, not lying down on the sofa on the left! There's privacy glass in the window behind you and the window opposite looks out on to a garden. It's quiet, peaceful and private. Oh and there are lots of Starfish everywhere - of course!

It's a warm, welcoming place - the kettle will be on (or water if you prefer), and I have the time to listen properly, so that I can put a plan in place to "sat nav" you to the destination of your choice.

I offer a free no-obligation initial consultation, so please get in touch if you'd like to find out more.

It’s the 1st of June and today is officially 'Say Something Nice Day'. But to be honest, this is the kind of day that deserves a permanent spot on the calendar, 365 days a year, in my opinion. There's SO much anger and hate in the world.

As a hypnotherapist, I spend a lot of time looking at the weight our words carry. We often forget that our minds are always listening. The things we say out loud to colleagues, friends, or family leave a lasting impression - but so do the things we quietly whisper to ourselves in the mirror or when we make a mistake, or even just chatting in our heads while we're driving, or just going about our day.

A quick bit of praise or a thoughtful compliment can completely turn someone’s day around. Equally, swapping out harsh self-criticism for a bit of self-kindness can completely change how our subconscious protects and guides us.

Our words really do create our reality - I'm always promoting that book "What to say when you talk to yourself" by Shad Helmstetter - haha I should be on royalties the amount I've recommended it!! Let’s make sure we’re building a kind reality for ourselves and others.

Whether you’re talking to a stranger in the coffee shop queue today, dropping a text to a friend, or just having a quiet moment with your own thoughts - please be gentle. Words stick.

PROCRASTINATION

“I’ll do it later…”
Sound familiar?

It often shows up as:
• Scrolling instead of starting
• Putting off that difficult conversation
• Avoiding admin or emails
• Waiting for the “right mood” or motivation
• Starting … then stopping

Procrastination isn’t laziness - it’s usually avoidance of discomfort (stress, overwhelm, fear of getting it wrong).

Try this instead:
• Start with just 5 minutes (make it too easy to fail)
• Break tasks into tiny steps
• Focus on starting, not finishing
• Remove distractions before you begin
• Be kind to yourself - pressure often makes it worse

How hypnotherapy can help:
Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious patterns driving procrastination - helping you reduce avoidance, build motivation, and feel calmer taking action.

Because when your mind feels safe … you stop avoiding and start doing.

I love this rose from my garden - it's a photo from a few years ago now, and it's only a small rose bush, and not very old, and at the moment I only get 1-2 blooms a year, but it's worth waiting for!

I've been on a Vitality training for the last month (it's a 3 month course), and it's been really interesting and I'm learning loads. One of the things I've been doing every morning for over a month now, is getting outside for 5 minutes, within 30 minutes of waking up - sun or cloud. I stand on the grass if it's not raining, or sometimes I sit on a chair, but generally stand in the fresh air - but it's about getting out in the daylight (even if the sun is behind a cloud), and it's really good for you. I did some research and here are some of the benefits:-

1. Resets your circadian rhythm (your internal clock)
2. Boosts alertness naturally
3. Improves mood and reduces anxiety
4. Helps you fall asleep easier at night
5. Supports energy and focus throughout the day
6. May help regulate appetite and metabolism

It's important to be outside, not through a window. Even a cloudy morning is enough. In the winter when the light is darker in the morning, aim for 10-20 mins, but at this time of the year, 5 mins is enough (although I like doing it for longer as it feels great!).

Within 30 mins of waking up is the most powerful as the circadian signal will be stronger. The effect diminishes the longer you wait.

This is especially powerful if your sleep is inconsistent, or you're dealing with anxiety, low mood, fatigue or poor sleep quality. Get in touch if you'd like any extra help or support on any of these areas.

Interesting isn't it. I hope you found that helpful. I've been really enjoying my 5 mins in the daylight in the morning - I use the time to drink my aloe vera, and take my supplements with a large glass of water, so I'm hydrating as well. I love standing there and listening to the birds too. It's also a good time to say positive things to yourself, to set you up for a good day.

Let me know how you get on if you decide to give it a whirl. Oh, and it's free!!

Enjoyyyyy
