🥧 Another pie day in the café — and just perfect for this wet, blustery Wednesday!

Huge thanks to everyone who braved the weather and joined us for Art & Friendship, Seated Keep Fit, Walk & Talk, Kettlebells, Circuit and of course the café today 🌧️💪🎨

Plenty of hot chocolates and brews were enjoyed — well deserved all round! ☕💚

📌 The café is now closed until 15th June, but most activities continue as normal.
🚶‍♀️ Please note: The Walk & Talk Group will NOT run next Wednesday.

🌽🌧️ Well… that was a wet one for Fiona and volunteers Kinder, Katie and Diane today! 🌧️🌬️🌞

Despite the sideways rain, high winds and surprise sunshine, the team cracked on like absolute stars 💚

🌽 Second batch of sweetcorn planted
🥬 Romaine lettuce & mustard in the ground
🌱 New bean‑support arch built (but the winds were far too wild to plant the beans!)
🧅 Onion bed fully weeded
🧥 Waterproofs on… spirits high!

Plan was to inspect the bee hive this morning, but the weather had other ideas — far too cold, wet and windy to open the hive safely.

🐝 However, Fiona reports the bees were active around the entrance, sipping water and buzzing gently. Not much flying, but definitely awake and about.

Huge thanks to the volunteers for braving the elements and keeping everything moving forward. What a team! 💚🌿

🎸🌞 Live Music in the Kitchen Garden! 🌞🎸

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the brilliant Maelor Hughes to Rhyddings on Sunday 5th July 2026, 2pm–4pm!

A talented local artist with a soulful voice and heartfelt songwriting, Maelor blends modern acoustic sounds with timeless folk influences — the perfect soundtrack for a sunny afternoon in the Kitchen Garden 🌿🎶

Bring your picnics, chairs, umbrellas or sun cream — the show goes ahead rain or shine!

This event is also a fundraiser for the RBL Poppy Appeal ❤️🌺

🐾💛 When two furry girls are out on their walk…
…and they’re very used to their Monday morning snack at Rhyddings, of course they made sure their walkers knew exactly where they needed to go!
Naturally, they popped in for their treat — as they should 😄🐶🐶

It’s been a lovely busy Monday here:

☕ A lively café — with a mixed winter/summer menu, all sold out!
Huge thanks to volunteers Ann & Linda for looking after the café, supported by Lewis 💛

🌿 Lots of activities — the walk, keep fit, kettlebells, circuit and Laughter Yoga Club keeping the building buzzing with energy.

💬 Plenty of chatter and friendly faces — just how we love it.

Excited for Ossyfest 2026 🎶🎼🎤🎵🎸

Here it is, your OSSYFEST 2026 lineup! We have over 70 wonderful artists performing across the 4 days in August, in support of Music Lessons. There will be lots more information coming soon so keep your eyes peeled and start listening to your new favourite musicians!

🌿 Another busy day in the Kitchen Garden! 🌞

Fiona was joined by volunteer Sarah this afternoon🌱

🍅 Tomatoes galore!
They potted on even more tomatoes… because honestly, why not ?

🌿 Silver Inch success
More Silver Inch plants were potted and propagated — and we now have two strong master plants to keep growing from.

🌽 Sweetcorn season begins
The beds were weeded and the first batch of sweetcorn went in. Exciting times!

🌱 Peas on the move
The very enthusiastic peas got a good tie-up — they’re determined to take over the world this year!

🧅 Big onion bed makeover
Half of the big onion bed was cleared and turned over.
This space will now be home to the dwarf red beans going in on Wednesday after a little change of plan.

🥒 Courgette rescue mission
The back-up courgettes, looking a bit sad but bursting with flowers, were planted out so they can finally stretch their roots.
We’re even going to attempt vertical courgette growing this year… wish us luck! 🌼⬆️

The Friends of Rhyddings Park were delighted to donate a selection of beautiful plants to Friends of hippings school-fohs today.

Mandy popped over for a lovely catch‑up with Fiona, and Mandy left with trays full of garden goodness 🌱✨
