We are now in the fiery Pitta season which brings more heat into our body and mind. During this season we want to take care of our liver which is strongly linked with high pitta. Some signs that our liver is struggling would be skin problems, hormonal imbalances and yellowing eyes.

In this week’s class we will learn some tips for looking after our liver and move through poses that target our liver meridian channel.

Happy Sunday Everyone 😊

It’s finally the summer Pitta season! The pitta dosha is very high in the fire element so we want to adjust our diet and lifestyle to include cooling foods and practices.

This week’s yoga will include cooling lifestyle advice, mudra and breathwork and we’ll be moving through some Chandra namaskar (moon salutations).

This week’s classes are full but if you would like to grab a spot next week please let me know.

Ayurvedic yoga classes take place on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings 10am - 11am.

Classes are infused with Ayurvedic wisdom and are themed around finding balance within the season we are in and include breathwork, mudras, meditation, intention, movement, relaxation and optional head and shoulder massages.

Dark chocolate and herbal tea always provided.

Pitta balancing body oil now available from my Otley studio!

Cooling and soothing pitta balancing body oil can be used daily in your self massage abhyanga practice. The summer is ruled by the fiery pitta dosha which causes heat to rise in our body and mind. Adjusting our routine to bring in cooling and soothing practices helps to keep us healthy and happy.

Abhyanga is the traditional Ayurvedic practice of self massage performed daily to help keep the body’s energy flowing as its best. The body has 108 marma (vital energy points) which can become blocked from tension, toxins and bad posture. Daily massage helps to keep our prana flowing.

Happy Sunday everyone 😊

This week’s classes are all about Agni (our digestive fire).

Strong Agni = great health

In ayurveda the health of our digestive fire is EVERYTHING! We need a strong fire to digest not just our food but our emotions, environment and everything we come in contact with.

When our fire is weak we loose our spark, struggle with digestive symptoms and toxins begin to build up in our body & mind.

We will learn how to kindle our fire with yoga asana and breathwork that build heat and take away some Ayurvedic lifestyle tips on how to eat mindfully that you can use in your daily routine.

One Ayurvedic practice not to be missed due to its many benefits to both mind and body.

Abhyanga can be performed at any time of day but is most suited to early morning or late afternoon when we are not overly full from our meals.

Pick a high quality of oil that is suitable for your dosha (organic & cold pressed is best) :-

Vata - sesame oil, almond or olive oil
Pitta - sunflower, coconut or almond oil
Kapha - safflower, sesame or mustard oil

Warm your oil for extra indulgence and comfort.

Use circular motions on joints and long sweeping strokes on limbs moving towards the heart. Use a clockwise motion on the abdomen and chest. On days when you can leave the oil in your hair, take the oil onto the scalp using your finger tips to massage. As you massage give gratitude to the body, thanking it for all that it does (for a greater body positivity connection).

Take a moment to let the oil sink in whilst you rest.

Follow with a warm bath or shower.

Practice daily or as many times a week as you can manage.
