A little crafty update!

Quite a few of you have asked me about longer-form videos and tutorials, so I’m really excited to share that Pebble Paper Scissors is now on YouTube!

I’m slowly uploading the back catalogue of videos I already have available while I work on filming and editing lots of new content to share with you. It’s a bit of a juggling act, but I’m so excited to be building this little crafty corner of YouTube and having more space to share the projects, techniques and little details that are sometimes tricky to squeeze into a reel.

And yes… for everyone who has been asking about the snowy Christmas tag tutorial, it will absolutely be making an appearance!

Turning a useless little window into my very own plant nursery!

You know when you suddenly look at a space in your house and realise it could actually be put to much better use? Well, that’s exactly what happened with this tiny window in my office!

It gets the loveliest morning light, but up until now it’s just been a bit of dead space. And with my ever-growing collection of baby plants, rescued plants and a few that are still recovering and need a little extra attention, I decided it was time to give it a purpose.

A few strip lights on a timer, a thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature, and a little rearranging later… welcome to my mini plant nursery!

It’s now the perfect spot for my little leafy babies to settle in, enjoy the light and hopefully thrive. And the best bit? I get to sit at my desk and enjoy watching them grow throughout the day. Honestly, I’m not sure what could make working in my office any better!

Houseplants are still a relatively new hobby for me. I’ve only really got serious about them in the last year, but I’ve discovered that I absolutely love the process of learning about each plant, figuring out what makes it happy and trying to nurse the struggling ones back to health. There’s something so satisfying about seeing new growth appear on a plant you’ve been trying to help.

I’m very much still learning as I go, but that’s part of the fun. And I suspect this little nursery is only the beginning…

Although, given my track record for acquiring plants, I probably need to start thinking about where the next nursery is going to go!

Tell me, fellow plant people… how do you make the most of the space you have for your plants? I’m always looking for ideas, although I probably shouldn’t encourage myself!

A little planty treat to myself…

I’ve only really got serious about gardening and houseplants over the last year, and I honestly didn’t expect to fall quite so completely in love with it.

There’s something I really love about rescuing a plant, figuring out what it needs, giving it a little TLC and watching it slowly come back to life. I love the challenge of learning about each plant and trying to get the conditions just right - and seeing that new leaf appear after weeks of care is ridiculously rewarding.

So when I spotted the Baby Plant Imperfection Box from I couldn’t resist treating myself.

Philodendron Pink Princess — one I’ve been coveting for ages!
Alocasia Cuprea ‘Red Secret’ — which I’m particularly excited to experiment with and hopefully move into a hydroponic setup once she’s a little more established.

I was honestly so impressed with the whole experience. The plants arrived beautifully packed, delivery was great, and the value of the box was incredible. The fact that these are “imperfect” baby plants makes it even more fun for me because I love a rescue project.

Now comes the fun part… seeing what these little babies become.

Ten years into living with PoTS, and there are still symptoms that catch people off guard when I mention them.

Not the obvious ones. The strange ones -the sort that took me years, and quite a few confused doctors, to connect back to a single diagnosis.

I've shared just five of them: the temperature chaos where I'm either frozen or overheating with no in-between, the pain threshold so high it once hid an appendicitis behind what I thought was just a tummy ache, the standing intolerance that still catches me out with dizziness and a racing heart, the fatigue that no amount of sleep seems to touch, and the one I hear more than any other..."but you look so well."

That last one really gets me. Because what people see is the ten minutes I've managed to show up for, not the hours of pacing and resting it took just to get there.

If you live with PoTS or another chronic condition, I'd genuinely love to know, what's the symptom nobody warned you about? Drop it in the comments. Let's build a list for anyone newly diagnosed who feels like they're the only one going through it.

This is my August cover, shared over from Pebble Paper Scissors where all my craft content lives now.

Creating these covers each month has become one of my favourite parts of keeping this journal. I choose a theme, gather the pieces that feel right together, and tuck little snippets of story into the background text, the sort of thing only I will ever really notice. To anyone else it’s texture. To me, it’s a tapestry.

What I love most is knowing I can come back to this page in years to come and understand exactly what was happening and how I felt at the time, without ever having had to put it into words. Some seasons are easier felt than written, and this feels like a gentler way of holding onto them.

Both my babies, off to school.

Today was the youngest’s turn - his very first day, and the excitement on his face said it all. Watching him stand there next to his big brother, matching uniforms, arms round each other for the photo… something about that pulled at my heart in a way I wasn’t quite ready for.

They’re growing up so fast. Too fast, if I’m honest. But watching them today, so proud, so ready, so completely unfazed by the enormity of it all — I couldn’t have been prouder of the two of them.

Go make friends. Go have an adventure. I’ll be here, waiting to hear all about it later x

A clean and simple card, start to finish.

This one's all about blending - August's colour combo from Lisa Horton Crafts, Straw Hat, Rustic Coral through to Loganberry, using a separate brush for each shade to keep the finish nice and even. From there it's trimming, scoring, a detailed die cut layered over the background, and a stamped sentiment raised on foam to finish it off.

There's something properly meditative about sitting down with card and ink for an afternoon — simple steps, but such a striking result.

There's something about a beach once the tide has properly gone out. All that sand left glistening, and no idea what's been uncovered until you go and have a look.

We spent hours out there, digging, exploring, getting properly wet and sandy in the way only a good beach afternoon allows. But funnily enough, when I asked the boys at bedtime what their favourite bit of the whole day had been, they both said the exact same thing without even pausing to think - jumping in the water. Not the treasure, not the rocks, just the simple joy of splashing about.

It's a good reminder, isn't it? All that time spent thinking about what might make a day special, and in the end, it's usually the simplest bit that sticks.

Some of you have known me since my mixed media days - maybe sat across a craft table from me, or perhaps you caught me demonstrating crafts on the shopping channels years back. If that's you, this one's for you.

I still make. In fact, craft has never really left me - it just moved over to Pebble Paper Scissors where I share my mixed media and papercraft projects these days. A few of you have asked to see more of that side of things again, so I thought it was about time I brought a bit of it back here too.

This is the video tutorial for my mixed media William Morris tag. I shared the finished piece during the launch of the Inspired by William Morris collection from Lisa Horton Crafts, and I had several requests to film how it actually comes together - so here it is. Grab a cup of tea, this is a proper process one!

I started with the largest MDF tag from the LHC assortment, covered it with one of the free William Morris paper downloads, then sanded the edges back to distress them. A little Cadence Hybrid Acrylic in Taffy brayered over the top, with a few splatters, gives that lovely worn, mixed media feel.

The flowers and leaves are all cut ahead of time from ink-blended backgrounds made with the Inspired by William Morris Cloud 9 inks, I like to spend an afternoon inking and cutting so I've always got a stash ready to play with.

Then comes the part I love most: layering. I always trial the design before I stick anything down, building outwards from the focal flower from the Larkspur Foliage die set, and only tacking thecentres of bases of the petals and leaves so I can keep tucking new pieces underneath as I go. A sentiment strip made with the Sea Flowers dies, a splatter of water to react with the inks, a touch more Taffy acrylic paint to tie it all together, and a tiny bow to finish.
