Ever wonder what we are thinking before your treatment even starts?
The moment you walk in, we are already working - just not with our hands yet.
In the first 30 seconds, we're quietly noticing: How you're breathing - shallow and high in the chest, or slow and low in the belly? How you're holding yourself at rest - one shoulder higher, weight shifted to one hip? How you get onto the plinth - easily, or guarding a particular area? What your tissue feels like - warm and pliable, or tight and guarded? How you move once you're settled - where you naturally avoid moving.
None of this is us "reading your mind" - it's pattern-spotting. And it directly shapes your session: how much pressure we start with, how fast or slow we work, and which techniques we reach for first.
This is also why we'll usually ask questions before we begin - how you slept, what your week's looked like, whether you've trained or sat at a desk for 9 hours straight. The more we know, the less guessing we do, and the more the session is actually built around you rather than a generic routine.
Osteopathy and Massage therapy works best as a two-way conversation, not something done to you. So next time, don't be shy about mentioning the small stuff - it genuinely changes how we treat you.
