🧡Meet the Team Wednesday🧡

This week, we're shining a spotlight on Clare, one of our Cancer Support Specialists here at Maggie's Oxford.

Clare has been part of the Maggie's team for an incredible 14 years, supporting people with cancer and their loved ones through some of life's most challenging times. Alongside her role at Maggie's, she also works part-time as a Therapeutic Radiographer in the Radiotherapy Department at the Churchill Hospital.

One of the things Clare loves most about working at Maggie's is being part of our drop-in support and seeing first-hand the difference support can make from a person's very first visit. She also runs our Getting Started with Radiotherapy workshop, helping people feel more informed, prepared and reassured about their treatment.

🐊 Fun fact about Clare: Since 2020, she has sponsored a crocodile at Crocodiles of the World, and has affectionately named him 'Jim'!

Thank you, Clare, for the warmth, knowledge and support you bring to Maggie's every day. 🧡

This week's goes to everyone involved in the fantastic Rounders Challenge, raising an incredible £650 for Maggie's Oxford through donations and employer matched funding.

The event was organised by a supporter who was inspired to fundraise after hearing about their colleague Ian's experience of cancer and the support Maggie's has provided to him and his family.

Ian shared:

"Throughout my cancer journey, Maggie's has been a constant source of support. Whether it was somewhere to go during chemotherapy sessions, one-to-one counselling when I needed someone to talk to, or simply a quiet space where my wife, children and I could spend time together away from the hospital environment, Maggie's has always been there. They have been a lifeline during some of the most difficult moments, and I am incredibly grateful for everything they do."

Moved by Ian's story, colleagues, friends and family came together for an evening of rounders, friendly competition and community spirit, helping to raise vital funds so Maggie's can continue supporting people with cancer and their loved ones.

Join us in thanking everyone involved. 🧡

“We’re so grateful to our President, Her Majesty The Queen, for speaking so openly about her emotions following His Majesty The King’s cancer diagnosis. This film helps to shine a light on just how important it is that friends and family get support too. If someone you love has received a cancer diagnosis, we’re here with you. Just come in to our centre here in Oxford to speak with one of our experts, or call us on 01865751882 🧡
