Do you have that teacher who you can look back to as the person who believed in you and inspired you? Give them a shout out !

Myself being in the school’s bottom set for French, had one double lesson ‘gifted’ to the bright top set kids to do their second language, and instead we got a wonderful calm yoga teacher! I am saddened I don’t remember her name but she really set alight my love of yoga. From those teenage days three of us still do regular yoga, carrying into careers in later life, giving a supportive home on our mats to help heal from car accident and cancer, or simply yoga helps navigate those curve balls life throws our way.

I am rubbish at juggling, can you? A bit like juggling life, it’s too easy to drop things and get in a whirling spin in our heads, circling thoughts which are not so important when we take a deep breath. Step back and focus, that gentle pause collecting ourselves as we calm and steady our breath.

🤹‍♀️ Juggling too many things?
🤹‍♀️ Take a deep breath in,
🤹‍♀️ and sigh out noisily
🤹‍♀️ all that whirling and spinning in your head!

Welcome to come to yoga and find that quieter space just for you. We will certainly be balancing but not on a tight rope or flinging objects around while we do! Love you to demo if you do juggle, maybe it can inspire a new class?

Still space to join next four weeks of weekly yoga up to Summer holidays!
Let's work with balancing our energy centres or Chakras and find a calmer place with yoga, breath, relaxation, and meditation.

Are you a reader? Digital or thumbing pages? I am still old school, loving the feel of the paper, even if weight issue packing bags! I tend to catch up on books while on holiday, so enjoyed the extra days tagged onto my Portugal retreat to enjoy my own yoga and time off read! The two books proved helpful to avoid my mat blowing away. Still Life by Sarah Winman was excellent, really laughed and cried, written so well. The Girl, Goddess, Queen by Bea Fitzgerald.

For yoga I always choose Awakening the Spine by Vanda Scaravelli, now reissued with her notes to improve on this classic philosophy with heart. It was the book that inspired me to explore mind body and soul connection rather than just married to the mat work

Today lets celebrate 20 years of Independent book sellers. There’s a load of great events taking place so do check out your local book shop. Ours is Wantage Bookshop on 18 Mill Street.

The most recent to open in Oxford is Daunt books in Summertown. Plus the great Mostly Books over in Abingdon, who are always great at recommendations.

Couldn’t resist bringing in these jolly daisy’s into to cheer the yoga hall. I teach with crossed mats to demo in each direction, and the Tibetan bells I ring to gently lift folk from the relaxation.

Classes for these next 5 weeks and we continue in Sumner holidays if enough folk are around!

My largest thrown pot to date! Daisies from my garden and they’re prolific if anyone wants some? I’ll dig up & bring to class if you fancy?

Embrace the wobble! Ready to give balancing and yoga a go? Lots of options to find where fits you best, and try out with how hands open, together at chest or over head eases or maybe just doesn't! We all fall out sometimes.

Do come and try out this week and if suits you join rest of this five week block. Photos from last week at my yoga retreat in Portugal with a strong wind, I always encourage folk to breath and smile but being photographed, stiff wind and bright sun proves balancing and smiling can be so tricky!

What an amazing 5 days of yoga holiday in Portugal. It was such an honour to teach 5 decades of a wonderful family and their longtime friend. Yoga outside, swimming, beach walks, laughter and the best breakfasts created with loving care by Sandra and Ronald in Serena Vista

A big birthday to celebrate and done with such joy! Even inspired a half headstand in the mad sculpture park!
for the best time and truly enjoyable time together!

How about starting something new for yourself with this sparkly new month of June? Five weeks to begin your yoga as a complete newbee or ease back if you have a lapse away, or returning after an injury? Lots of tips to make the poses accessible and exercises to help build and limber to find a comfortable and calmer version of yourself.

Modifications to help find the 'comfortable'
We can borrow the wall to embrace the wobble in balancing, a finger tip to steady or plant your butt against wall in the leg lift!
Use a belt so work mindfully to where our non bendy selves can arrive without strain or struggle
No competition, yoga for you as you feel on the day. Some days are just harder and other times we feel full of vim
Breathing a little deeper really helps us enhance our focus and energy levels.

Wednesday Beginners Yoga Class
9.30 - 10.15am The Beacon, Wantage
Sign up for this small class with fellow newbees

Pinch and Punch for the first of the Month always annoyed me and at school, and often became a foil for some nasty jabs and painful bruising! Happy 1st June let's start this month with and be kind to one another.

Do get in touch if wish to talk through if suitable class for you. Hazel has been teaching for 23 years and just moved from Oxford so a newbee herself!

Isn’t it great when you see a friend stand taller with a compliment, or a colleague smile when you acknowledge their input and suggestions?

Have you given yourself a tap on the back recently, our self critical mindset might be holding us back so lets congratulate the great things we do, however small
Is it time to put aside a old misgiving and re-connect? My favourite is suggestion to Leave a nice note or do something unexpected for a friend, family member, or co-worker.

We close each yoga class with a moment to focus on sending good energy with loving kindness out to the world. Today's National Say Something Nice Day is a great prompt to say that out loud to everyone you cross paths with. Let’s be friendly and positive. Let’s all Spread Happiness

Just to take time to be the kind caring human you are. A kind word or maybe just a smile can lift someone’s tricky day!

Next block of yoga starts Friday 5 June, Come along and practise Ahimsa, loving kindness to ourselves in a group of likeminded kind folk!

Hop onto your mat for the next five weeks and be ready for summer? Weekly changing classes with a great mix of yoga: building your fitness with sequences, and strengthen with poses while encouraging your flexibility. As we link body, breath and mind we also get time to fully relax and let go of your everyday, and 'me-time' to find that calmer place with breathwork and reflection.

Then take your yoga home and roll your mat out in your garden with some handouts to follow. My tip is to be in shade as getting too hot and blinded by the sunlight as move through your asanas or poses.

Starts following Tuesday new time of 6.45pm to 8.15pm
9 June to 7 July cheaper block or drop in when work/home/life allows
Letcombe Regis Village Hall
With the French windows open we can appreciate the breeze and lovely view across the recreation ground and hills beyond. Plenty of parking, borrow a mat if need, bring water bottle and maybe a flannel to pop over your eyes for relaxing or a lavender filled eye pillow.

Check out my classes in Cumnor and Oxford starting from Friday 5 June in Old Headington
