A wonderful afternoon was had by all at MyVision Oxfordshire's Volunteers' Week tea party, held at Bradbury Lodge this week; as we came together to celebrate and thank our incredible volunteers for their dedication, kindness and support throughout the year. A special moment of the afternoon was wishing a fond farewell to Maureen Strype, who is soon moving away from the county. Maureen has made a tremendous contribution to MyVision Oxfordshire, and we are so grateful for everything she has done. As a token of our appreciation, we presented Maureen with a special award of recognition from , giving her a short break in a UK hotel.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Bird & Blend Tea Co. and Happy Cakes for their generous donations of delicious teas and cupcakes, which helped make the celebration extra special.

, new life on the lake!

Our Didcot walking group went on a long but lovely 3 mile walk around Lady Grove Park and lakes. We managed to hit 12,000 steps on our journey through the park, spotting different birds, including lots of geese and even 21 goslings. What an enjoyable walk.

Meanwhile, our East Oxford walking group had a hot walk in Florance Park. Despite the heat, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, stopping at the newly revamped Flo’s Café for a nice, refreshing cold drink.

The Banbury walking group unfortunately got caught in the rain, so decided to stay dry and have a lovely catch up instead. Here are some photos from our walks.

Feeling Fresh!

We had a very relaxing wellness session at Oxford College the other day. We were pampered, had some pedicures, and fresh hair treatments and trims. It was all very nice. We finished with a tasty lunch, curtesy of the college. Thank you to Oxford City College for having us, and to your brilliant trainee Beauty Therapists.

Here are some photos.

Thank you!

Another collection, another successful day. Last week we had a collection day at Abingdon Tesco, and managed to raise £350! Thank you so much to all the volunteers who came and helped, everyone who donated, and Abingdon Tesco for hosting us.

!

Our Witney walking group had a beautifully sunny walk last week, which was reflected in the turnout. We had a big group of 14 of us, and we all had a blast. We decided to walk to Cogges Café this time, which was very nice indeed. We spoke about Walk Oxford, and there was interest from a few of our members. Sammy has signed up, and would love for you to walk with her.

Our Abingdon walking group had a thoroughly enjoyable walk along the Thames to Abby Gardens. We stopped a couple of times to listen to the birds, and Dev used his skills learnt from the Didcot sensory walks along with his phone to identify what they were. We made great time, doing around 2 miles in just under an hour.

Thank you everyone for showing such great energy, and we will see you in our next Green Walks.

So what can you actually see?

You are invited to a private viewing with Devante from 10:30-12:30 on the 5th June.

From the 5th of June until the end of July, MyVision Oxfordshire will present “So What Can You Actually See?” at the Cornerstone Arts Centre. Created by visually impaired members from South Oxfordshire, in partnership with the Didcot Wellbeing group, the exhibition showcases personal poems from each artist’s journey, alongside everyday items that visually impaired people use. You’ll explore questions placed around the room, hear about daily sounds and experiences, engage with an interactive section, and discover more about the charity’s work and how you can get involved.

Here are some short snippets from some of our poems.
