I have done a one off session in the past as someone without any specific medical conditions and found it really helpful for general energy levels.

Better breathing isn’t about taking bigger breaths to get more oxygen for more energy. It’s about creating better conditions for the body to do what it’s designed to do.

We often talk about ā€œhaving energyā€ like it’s something we either wake up with… or don’t.

The food industry has made us believe if we 'need energy' we should eat something full of sugar

And, yes we need a consistent good amount and quality of sleep to wake up refreshed,
We need to eat a good balanced diet to give our body the resources it needs for energy.

But, energy isn’t something we simply HAVE.
It’s something we CREATE.
Your body creates energy through movement, oxygen, circulation, adaptability, and demand.
The body responds to what we ask of it.
When we move well, breathe well, and create the right conditions internally, our cells can produce energy more efficiently.
And breathing is a huge part of that.

Functional breathing helps improve oxygen delivery and carbon dioxide tolerance — both essential for efficient energy production, recovery, focus, and resilience.
When we feel tired, stressed, in pain, or overwhelmed, we often breathe in ways that actually reduce efficiency:
• shallow breathing
• mouth breathing
• upper chest breathing
• over-breathing
The result?
More tension. Less efficiency. More fatigue.

Movement creates demand.
Breathing supports the system.
The body responds.

Energy follows function.

That’s why functional breathing retraining can impact:
āœ” energy
āœ” recovery
āœ” stress resilience
āœ” movement quality
āœ” sleep
āœ” pain
āœ” performance

Your body is always responding to the signals you give it.

Breathe better.
Move better.
Create better energy.

Many women are told that feeling exhausted, anxious, foggy-headed, waking at 3am, or struggling with hot flushes is ā€œjust part of menopause.ā€ something to expect and to accept

But the way we breathe can have a huge impact on how we feel during peri-menopause and post-menopause.
Functional breathing helps support the nervous system, energy production, sleep, focus, stress resilience, and even hormonal balance.

When breathing becomes fast, shallow, or through the mouth — often during times of stress or hormonal change — the body can stay stuck in a state of tension and fatigue.
Learning to breathe in a more functional way can help:
Improve sleep quality
Reduce anxiety and overwhelm
Support energy and focus
Calm hot flushes and stress responses
Improve exercise tolerance and recovery
Support overall wellbeing during hormonal transition
Small changes in breathing habits can create powerful shifts in how the body feels day to day.

Menopause isn’t something to simply ā€œget through.ā€ With the right support, you can feel calmer, stronger, and more energised through this stage of life. šŸ’›

join me for my Functional Breathing workshop for hormone balance and menopause support—designed for women at all stages, whether you're experiencing your monthly cycle and get PMS or moving through perimenopause and menopause.
Through retraining your day to day breathing pattern and some mindful breathing you can help bring your hormones into a more balanced state or support your nervous system and health as your body adapts to a lower hormone state

You might know your breathing feels hard, feeling like you can't get a enough air, breathlessness, wheezing.

But, it isn't always obvious, it can affect your energy, your movemement, how you think and feel and it goes unnoticed.
Your body has to keep breathing to survive, the compensation it makes become normal for you.

Breathing should feel easy and effortless at rest,
Do you often feel fatigued
Do you feel anxious or on edge
Do you yawn or sigh a lot
Feel tense or achy in your neck, shoulders and back
Do you breathe through your mouth rather than your nose?

Your breathing is likely just a little off, over time this will begin to impact your health and wellbeing more and more.

Some simple practices worked into your daily life to retrain your automatic breathing patterns can make your breathing easy again and protect your health, wellbeing and longevity for life
Make every breath count

How your child is breathing could be impacting more than you realise.
Fun 1 hour childrens session 23rd May - 2pm
Rooted in Burford, 112a high street, Burford

Many children who are feeling anxious or are being hyperactive are told to ā€œjust breatheā€ or "calm down"— but aren’t actually shown how, that can feel confusing rather than helpful.

Breathing expert James Nestor recently shared that around 50% of children may be mouth breathing — which can affect how calm, focused, and settled they feel in their bodies.

Modern lifestyle and environmental factors put so many obstacles in the way of us breathing the way we are designed to.

Teaching the skill of breathing gives children the tools they need for life šŸ’š
Teaching children the science of breathing supports their health for life šŸ’™

Nasal breathing is foundational to good functional breathing
Functional breathing is foundational to health and wellbeing

🦄 In Susie Sloth Workshops, children learn simple, playful ways to use their breathing to feel calmer, more confident, and more in control
An interactive, play-based wellbeing session for children aged 5-10 years
Functional and mindful breathing in a fun, accessible way.
Using stories, games, imagination, and creative
activities.

Children are guided to explore:

What calm feels like in their bodies
How breathing can help with big emotions
How to slow down and reset when things feel overwhelming
How breathing well supports health, energy and learning

They will develop:

Skills to help them manage big feelings and feel more confident and in control of their emotions.
Tools to improve focus and concentration for learning, and to build resilience and self awareness

You already have the most powerful tool for anxiety relief within you.
Every breath is an opportunity to regulate, ground, and reconnect to yourself.

You don’t need equipment.
You don’t need a device.
You don’t need to buy anything

You just need to learn how to learn how to use your breath as a tool to take you from stress to balance.
A tool you will always have with you

When we relearn how to breathe functionally, the all day everyday day automatic breathing we dont need to think about, we learn to slow down
We learn to listen.
We learn to reset

In life, we push through, work more hours, be more productive, accept and ignore the stress we are under to get through the day

Modern lifestyle and environmental factors puts us under strain our respiratory system was not designed for, the compensations our bodies have to make to keep us breathing in today's world are impacting our our health and wellbeing in many ways, with anxiety being one.
Chronic stress affects how we breath day to day, speeding it up
Leading to chronic hyperventilation
but also how we breath puts our bodies into a chronically stressed state.
A never ending cycle that therapy or mindfulness wont break

Take a few minutes to breathe slower than usual
Notice how you are breathing in the moments of stress, worry and anxiety.

Join me for my functional breathing for stress and anxiety workshop to learn how to retrain your everyday breathing pattern for a calmer more balanced nervous system
This is not:
a breathwork session
Meditation or mindfulness

This is:
Breathing assessments of you automatic breathing patterns
Education on why the way we are breathing impacts mental health
Practical techniques to integrate into daily life to retrain your breathing patterns
