Parent and child breathwork in Carterton, starts next week.

Breathe Carterton is changing!

For the last year, I’ve been running my Breathe Carterton sessions as a space for adults to slow down, breathe and learn more about how the way we breathe affects how we feel.

But I’ve had a few requests from parents asking whether I could offer something for parents and their babies or toddlers too,
and actually, this feels like a really natural next step.

When I first became a breathing coach, supporting children was always part of the bigger picture for me.

We’re seeing children growing up in a world that can place increasing demands on their nervous systems, with rising challenges around stress, anxiety, emotional regulation and mental wellbeing. I believe that learning simple tools to support the nervous system and healthy breathing patterns from an early age can be incredibly valuable.

Also, When I became a new parent, I remember how overwhelming it could feel. There was always someone who needed something, and finding time for yourself could feel almost impossible
just one minute of slowing down and breathing consciously can make a difference, I didnt know that then.

Alongside my Oxygen Advantage instructor training, I’ve also completed a Certificate in Children and Young People’s Mental Health, as well as additional breath training in supporting better breathing in children.

So, rather than continuing with the previous adult Breathe Carterton session, I’m offering a free 30-minute parent & baby/toddler Breathe session. 💛

This isn't class where you need your child to sit quietly or behave perfectly!

Quite the opposite.

Your baby or toddler can wriggle, crawl, play, feed, cuddle, make noise or need your attention. This is about finding a few minutes to breathe and relax while being a parent — not escaping from being one.

We'll spend around 15 minutes practising simple breathing techniques for you, followed by some practical information and tips about supporting healthy breathing for both you and your child as they grow.

Little things can make a difference
from encouraging nasal breathing to something as simple as helping children learn to blow their nose effectively so they can keep their nose clear and open.

My hope is that this becomes a little moment of calm in the week
a place where you can take a breath, learn something useful and leave feeling just a little more supported.

We will meet at the bandstand on the Rec in Carterton then decide on the best spot to sit for our outdoor session while the weather allows for it, because getting time in the daylight is an incredibly important physiological need.
For the winter I hope to find a suitable indoor venue.

So if this sounds like something you and your little one would enjoy, I'd love to hear from you.

First session will be Tuesday 15th September at 10am

Comment below or send me a message if you'd be interested in coming along.

And if you know a new parent who could really use five minutes to breathe, please tag them or share this with them.

Do you find yourself constantly holding your tummy in?

Maybe it's habit.
Maybe you don't like the way your belly feels.

Maybe you don't even realise you're bracing, ready to react to the next stress or worry.

But your abdomen isn't just something to flatten, to hold strong all of the time.

It's an important moving part of your breathing system and your diaphragm, ribcage and abdominal tissues all work together every time you breathe.

If you experience bloating or abdominal discomfort, or just feel like you carry a lot of tension in your tummy, The Body by Breath method is the perfect way to slow down and reconnect with what's happening there.

Less holding.
More breathing.
More space.

Come and give your belly a little kindness.

We release tension in our neck, shoulders and back — but what about our abdomen?

The abdominal area is wrapped in layers of fascia, a network of connective tissue that surrounds and connects the structures of our body. Stress, shallow breathing, movement patterns and simply holding tension can all contribute to tightness and restriction through this area that we often dont even realisewe have.

This week in fascia flow, we'll be exploring gentle abdominal rolling using soft therapy balls.

It's not about digging in or forcing anything to release. It's about gentle pressure, movement and breathwork to bring awareness to the tissues around your abdomen and encourage them to soften.

Abdominal self-myofascial release may help to:
Ease feelings of abdominal tension and discomfort
Release hidden tension in the front body which could be affecting your back or other areas of your body
Support better movement of the diaphragm and ribcage
Support healthy digestive function
Help you relax and reconnect with your body

If you feel bloated, tense, uncomfortable or want to learn a different way of caring for your body, come and explore it with us.

Breathe. Roll. Release.

It's not always about, not having the time to do something for your own health and wellbeing,
it's often about allowing yourself the time.

Without guilt.
Without making other things or people wait.
Without feeling like you have to achieve something to make it worthwhile.

You can take an hour and join me to:
Breathe
Roll
Rest
Recover

My Body by breath class combines gentle fascia release and breathwork to support better breathing, muscle tension release, nervous system regulation and relaxation.

Or, you can just take a few seconds to breathe and reset, something so simple that I didn't know how to do effectively when I needed it as a new parent.

See the last slide for a quick breath reset for moments of overwhelm, stress and exhaustion.

If you are a parent of a baby or toddler and would like to give yourself an hour, parent and child sessions can be arranged, DM me to find out more.

This weeks classes are

If you’ve never heard of fascia release, you’re not alone!

Fascia is the connective tissue that runs throughout your body, wrapping around and connecting your muscles, organs and other structures, a web that helps everything move and work together.

And your diaphragm is part of that interconnected system.

In this weeks body by breath class, we’re exploring the diaphragm — gently releasing areas of tension, creating more space and movement, and working with the body to help this important breathing muscle become stronger, more mobile and more adaptable.
Using soft pliable theapy balls, gentle movement and functional breathwork, you will leave this class feeling calmer, lighter, looser and more mobile.

We will also be practicing some slow motion meditation, because you dont have to be still to relax.

You don’t need to know anything about fascia or breathing techniques beforehand. Just come along and explore what your own body can do.

We teach children to brush their teeth, wash their hands and eat healthy foods.
But very few children are ever taught how to breathe well.

Yet breathing influences sleep, concentration, emotional regulation, resilience, energy levels and even how we respond to stress.
And modern day life gets in the way of natural efficient breathing.

In this fun, family workshop, you'll discover simple breathing games and activities that help children understand their amazing bodies while giving parents practical tools they can use every day at home.

Through play, movement, storytelling and connection inspired by the award winning book, Susie Sloth and her Secret Superpower, and the N.E.A.T code for better breathing, families learn skills that support calmer days, better sleep and more confident emotional regulation—without adding another complicated routine to family life.
It's not about fixing children.
It's about giving families a simple life skill that most of us were never taught.

This workshop is delivered by a certified oxygen advantage functional breathing coach specialising in children's health and wellbeing and hosted by Rooted in Burford.
