Torbay | Devon At its most superficial level, it runs under the skin, wrapping around muscles, tendons and ligaments, then further layers go deep internally surrounding and wrapping all our organs and bones providing structure, protection and

above all, everywhere it is, it provides sliding capabilitiy - so that everything inside moves against each other giving us free and fluid movements. Once we understand the nature of how fascia functions and how fascial dysfunction can effect the entire structure, we can begin to understand how symptoms, pain and imbalance within the body develop. The uterus doesn’t exist in isolation!!!

It lives within a supported dynamic system of 'Fascia', pelvic floor muscles and ligaments that can become tight, restricted or sensitized due to stress, injury, surgery, pregnancy, birth or chronic tension.

Not every painful period is due to 'just hormones' and it is important not to ignore the major role of this dynamic system that supports the uterus and its surrounding organs, and when in dysfunction contributes to pain that shows up with each cycle.

Causing symptoms such as :
■ Intense menstrual cramping
■ Pelvic pressure or aching
■ Low-back, hip or leg pain
■ Pain with bowel movements
■ Pain during in*******se
■ A feeling of tightness through the abdomen or pelvis

Myofascial Release Therapy can help reduce Fascial dysfunction, improve mobility and provide greater comfort.

Your period pain deserves to be heard—not dismissed. Your hormones may be part of the picture but not the whole picture.

I LOVE WORKING WITH BABIES!

It was wonderful to have a visit in Clinic this week from 12week old Baby X. His birth had not gone as mum had planned and sadly it was very traumatic for both Baby and Mum.

Birth is a remarkable process—but it’s also one of the most physically demanding experiences the body will ever go through and when a birth is difficult, prolonged, or assisted, a baby’s delicate fascial system can experience strain that isn’t always obvious during a routine medical exam. These experiences may create fascial restrictions that can affect how the baby’s body moves and functions.

For example:
- Long labor
- Fast or precipitous birth
- Induction or augmentation
- Vacuum or forceps delivery
- Cesarean birth
- Breech presentation
- Umbilical cord wrapped around the neck
- Shoulder dystocia
- Large baby or difficult positioning

We quite often see these babies may:
- Be agitated and cry alot
- Have difficulty latching or breastfeeding
- Be excessively fussy or colicky
- Have trouble settling or sleeping
- Have tension through the neck, jaw, or diaphragm
- Preference turning their head one direction
- Body asymmetries or early postural patterns

Not every baby with a difficult birth will have these challenges—but early assessment can help identify areas of restriction before the body develops long-term compensations.
The earlier restrictions are addressed, the easier it may be for babies to move, feed, and grow with greater comfort and freedom.

Myofascial Release Therapy is a very gentle, self correcting hands on treatment suitable for babies and children of all ages.

MORE EXCITING RESULTS!

As some of you know, over the last 4 weeks I have been part of a group of International Health Professionals who were part of an Advanced TMJ training programme.

I am super excited and have been incorporating some of these new techniques with alot of you in clinic not only for TMJ (Temporalmandibular Joint) or Face dysfunction and pain but for other pain pictures within the body. The results are super exciting and I can now say that I will be part of a larger group of TMJ Specialists and registered on an 'International' directory!!!!

So what is there to say | 'Your Jaw Tells a Story!'

Many people think TMJ, jaw pain, teeth grinding, and bite changes are simply dental problems.

Sometimes they are. But often the jaw is telling the story of a nervous system that has been carrying stress, tension, and unresolved experiences for years.

When the body doesn’t feel safe, it protects itself. The jaw is one of the most common places where that protection shows up.

◇ Clenching
◇ Grinding
◇ Tightness in the masseters and pterygoids
◇ Tongue tension
◇ Headaches and migraines
◇ Neck, shoulder, arm pain
◇ Airway challenges

Over time, these patterns can affect more than just the jaw. The jaw is connected through fascial, muscular, and neurological relationships to the skull, neck, hyoid, diaphragm, pelvis, and the rest of the body. When one area compensates, the entire system compensates.

This is why I often see clients with jaw restrictions also experiencing:
◇ Forward head posture
◇ Neck pain
◇ Pelvic imbalance
◇ Breathing dysfunction
◇ Chronic tension patterns
◇ Nervous system dysregulation

Sometimes what appears to be a structural problem is also a protective pattern that the body has never been able to fully release. This doesn’t mean emotions “cause” every jaw issue. But it does mean that healing often requires more than treating the teeth or the joint alone.

When we help the body feel safe, release fascial restrictions, restore balance, and support nervous system regulation, the jaw often begins to change as part of a whole-body healing process.

The jaw is not separate from the rest of you. It is part of the story your body has been trying to tell all along.

More remarkable results in Clinic when scar restrictions are released with Myofascial Release Therapy! 🩵

Every scar tells a story...
But the story doesn't end there.

Scars can create restrictions within the Fascial system affecting how your body moves, functions and even how you feel.

When trauma or surgery occurs, the body lays down collagen to repair. But scar tissue often doesn't glide and move like healthy tissue.

Scars can be connected to -
◇ Pain far from the scar
◇ Pelvic, neck, shoulder or back pain
◇ Reduced mobility
◇ Altered posture
◇ Chronic tension
◇ Numbness and hypersensitivity
◇ Emotional stess

Contact me to TODAY on 07879 404543 to discuss your scar concerns.
