DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT BIO SPICULE THERAPY?

Bio-spicules are microscopic, needle like structures derived from freshwater sponges. During treatment, they are carefully massaged into the skin to create controlled stimulation within its upper layers.

This encourages the skin’s natural renewal response and may help improve concerns including

Dull or uneven looking skin

Rough texture and congestion

Post-acne marks

Pigmentation concerns

Fine lines

Although it is a needle free treatment, it isn’t sensation free. The skin may feel prickly during and after treatment, with temporary redness, warmth, dryness or light shedding developing over the following days.

As the skin settles, it may begin to appear brighter, smoother and more refined.

This treatment won’t be suitable for every skin type or concern, which is why I will always assess your skin first. Results are progressive and, depending on your starting point and goals, I may recommend a course rather than a single treatment.

If you came to me wanting to improve your skin, one of the first things I’d ask is: what skincare are you using at home?

I’d want to know more than the brand names. What active ingredients are in your products? How often are you using them? And are they actually suited to your skin?

I might see you once a month in clinic. Your skincare is with you the other 365 days of the year. A good routine supports what we do during treatment and helps you maintain your results between appointments.

That doesn’t mean you need a shelf full of expensive products. It means finding the right products for your skin and using them consistently.

She came in wanting to improve her skin tone, texture and overall appearance. We talked through what was bothering her, looked at her skin properly and started with her first treatment.

BIO SPICULES OR MICRONEEDLING WHICH ONE IS RIGHT FOR YOUR SKIN?

Both treatments stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process and can help improve texture, tone, fine lines, congestion, pigmentation and acne scarring, but they work in different ways.

Bio-spicule therapy uses microscopic marine-derived spicules that are massaged into the skin. It is a needle-free treatment, although you may experience a prickly sensation for a few days and some light shedding as the skin renews.

Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled micro-channels at a depth selected for your individual skin. This stimulates collagen and elastin and allows me to target concerns including enlarged pores, fine lines, uneven texture and acne scarring.

Neither treatment is automatically better than the other. The right choice depends on your skin, your concerns, the results you want and the amount of downtime you are comfortable with.

When we first talked about her wedding, Mariesha was clear: she didn’t want to change her face. She wanted to improve what she already had and still look completely like herself on the day. (As mikey says it’s hard to improve on perfection).

This one is especially close to my heart because Mariesha is my cousin, and I had the honour of standing beside her on her wedding day. Seeing her so happy and confident was everything.

Lip filler doesn’t have to mean big lips.

For some clients, the goal is simply to restore a little volume, improve definition and create a beautifully balanced lip while still looking completely natural.

This client chose a gradual approach, allowing us to build her lips carefully over time rather than trying to achieve everything in one appointment.

THE PEN ISN’T THE TREATMENT PLAN 🤎

Microneedling is so much more than simply running a pen over the skin.

Two people can have the same device used on their skin and have completely different treatments because the skill is knowing what your skin needs, why we’re treating it and how we treat it safely.

Before I even pick up the pen, I’m thinking about your skin health, your concerns, medical history, the indication for treatment and whether microneedling is actually the right option for you.

Then comes the treatment itself.

The depth shouldn’t be the same across every face or even every area of the same face. Product selection matters. Sterile technique matters. Your skin’s response matters. And what happens after you leave the clinic matters too.

More needles, deeper treatment or more bleeding does not automatically equal better results.

Good microneedling is controlled, considered and individualised.

And importantly, sometimes my assessment will tell me that microneedling isn’t the treatment you need. I would much rather tell you that than perform a treatment simply because it’s what you booked.

The pen is just a tool.

The assessment, knowledge, technique, treatment plan, aftercare and review are the treatment. 🤎
