A birthflower floral wrap piece for .linsley to represent her siblings

This took 5 hours (£500)

We stencilled on the individual flowers & I freehanded most of the leaves & vine/stem bits

I often like to do florals in this way, particularly if we’re wrapping around an area or filling gaps, as it allows me to ensure it flows with the contours of the body & also allows you some creative input into the design on the day 😊 this does take a bit of prep time at the start of the appointment but I think it’s worth it when it’s needed for flow & fit

Another public service announcement 📢

I’m excited & nervous about having so long off work, but after having to go back to work when Seth was just 5 1/2 weeks old because statutory maternity pay doesn’t even cover my weekly outgoings, I promised myself the next time would be different

So for the last 2 years I’ve been saving because we knew we’d want to have another one at some point & I didn’t want to have the same financial stress as last time, & so far I’ve managed to save about 6 months worth of my outgoings so that’s how long I plan to take this time

As a self employed person it’s scary to plan to take that much time off work, there are concerns that people won’t wait & will find another studio & artist & won’t come back when I’m back to work, & when this is my sole income currently, I can’t afford to be quiet when I’ve run out of maternity savings. But we don’t plan on having any more children after this one, I’ve always said I only wanted 2 kids. So this is my last chance to have this time, to savour every moment, to give my baby what he needs

I hope you’ll all come back to see me when I’m back (even if you do go to another artist while I’m off), it’ll be so lovely to see all of your faces again & catch up with all your news!

Hitting things off again with this healed floral wrap piece for with a little fresh dragonfly added in the other day

I love how the greys have softened in to create more variation and depth to this piece!

I try to do as much of, if not all, of the consultation process via email because I have a terrible memory so need to have as much in writing in possible. An orca for

She has always had a love for orca’s, she thinks partly because of the iconic Free W***y film

I also felt a strong affinity with Orca’s, sealife conservation & protection because of that film

As a strong swimmer from a young age, I said I wanted to be one of the people who swims with the Orca’s & dolphins at Seaworld because I visited when I was 9… that was before I learnt how awful those places really are & I would never set foot in a seaworld place with Orca’s or Dolphins etc in again

But films like Free W***y, Gorilla’s in the Mist & Fern Gully were my absolute favourites as a child (Gorilla’s in the mist particularly & I always wished my toy monkeys would come to life!) & I think they’re a big reason why I’m such a stickler for doing things to look after our environment, our animals & our world as a whole, whether it be through recycling, trying to reduce waste, reusing as much as I can, shopping second hand for clothes, donating to charity over putting anything in landfill, using eco friendly products, choosing ethically sourced food, organic food as much as we can, avoiding palm oil, & generally trying to educate myself to make more informed & better choices for my family’s health but also for the wellness of the world! 🌎

I introduced Seth to The Gorilla’s in the Mist today, it was as good today as it was when I was a young child, I was in tears many times, Seth wasn’t affected in quite the same way but I think he was trying to play it cool

We really try to ensure our screen time is purposeful these days, we hardly ever watch TV anymore but when we do it’s a focus on either connecting as a family or education, & I’d love to share some more impactful films/documentaries with Seth to get him thinking more about the world, in the hope it not only makes him realise just how privileged he is but also to foster more love and care for the environment, animals & the world as a whole… so I’d love to know if anyone has any poignant or powerful film/documentary suggestions suitable for a 6 year old??

Some before & after (almost complete removal)

We treated all of these 1 last time for good measure (except the hand one of the clients’ photo), but they were all pretty much there by this point

Unfortunately I often don’t get to see them fully removed because because don’t come back for any more sessions, so unless they come back for something else I don’t often get a proper after photo 🙈 (if any of you have had complete removal with me do feel free to send me some clear, well lit photos I can use 🫶🏻)

As you can see, the number of sessions needed varies a lot & had a lot of variables, including whether they’d had any laser done elsewhere before, how faded the tattoo was to begin with, whether there was any scar tissue present (which slows the process down), the ink/pigment used, the density of the ink, how old the tattoo is (older the better for removal), as well as a clients’ immune and lymphatic system

It’s not a 1 size fits all & if removing from scratch, you’re often looking at 2+ years for complete removal, so patience is a must

It’s takes so long because we have to leave at least 8 weeks between sessions to give the body a chance to remove as much ink/pigment as it can & to allow the skin to heal
